Hi,
I recently realized that on one of my Win10 PC where CN is installed, sync is not launched automatically every 30 min as it should be. I have specified this delay in the sync settings but nothing happens unless I manually launch the sync by clicking on the small dedicated gadget at the bottom of the main window.
I have tried to reinstall CN with the installer over the previous version but this doesn't change anything. Maybe a hidden setting in the registry ?
Thanks for any hint !

Re: Yet another strange sync issue
Hi Merle,
This is quite strange -
1) is CN running in the background?
2) maybe the sync starts but can't finish successfully?
thanks!

Hi Alex, thanks for your reply !
1/ Yes, CN runs all the time, the icon lies in the notification area
2/ Could be but when I manually launch it it works fine. Is there some kind of log where I could see what happens ?

Re: Yet another strange sync issue
Sorry for late reply! There's been an issue with forum notifications.
Re sync:
You can enable debug log in Help/Debug/ Debug Logging.
This will restart CN.
Wait for more than 30 min with CN running - by that time sync should definitely have been started, then exit CN.
Then a log file will be created either near cintanotes.exe (if portable), or in %APPDATA%/CintaNotes (if installed).
It will be in the form of "log.<number>.txt".
Open the file having the largest number (it's the last log) in an editor that can handle large text files (VSCode, Sublime Text, Notepad++, klogg, etc)
Search for entries with "app::synchronization::SynchronizationManager::onCompleted", there you will be able to read the sync messages that appeared on the bottom sync bar. Going upward there maybe some detailed error messages.
If there are no such entries, search for anything containing word "synchronization". It should give us a hint to what has happened.

Re: Yet another strange sync issue
Thanks, will try that.
In the mean time I just found something strange that may explain (partially) the issue. It is about the opened database. Actually it was not the default cintanotes.db.
I remember I had to delete it a while ago due to a Simperium ban, don't ask me why I got banned, but as soon as I opened a backup database, I was no longer banned.
Now it appears the opened database was a special backup one, namely cintanotes.weekly.db in the user appdata folder,
C:\Users\<my login>\AppData\Roaming\CintaNotes\backup
I am not sure how why/how I chose this a the "active" database but I am pretty sure it is not a good practice to have such a file being the active one.
I have now saved this database as a new one in a special folder within "My Documents" and reopened it, I'll let you know if this solved the issue...

Re: Yet another strange sync issue
Yes, it works again now ! So the solution was to close the loaded .db file and to open a copy placed in another folder than the autobackup one.
I also saw something strange but won't investigate further since autosync works again. When I closed the loaded .db file, automatically another one was loaded, I closed it again, then another one came up and so on. I finally exited the app, reopened it again, and I loaded the one I had placed within "My Documents".
Not sure why CN decided to reopen these other .db nor why it chose those ones in particular, as if they were already opened in background but I don't think so.
Anyway, it works again !
Thanks for your support.

Re: Yet another strange sync issue
Hi MerleOne,
Really glad that sync is working for you again!
About the auto loading: CN keeps track of recently opened notebooks (you can see all of them in the File menu above the Exit entry), so that when you close the current one, the next one is automatically loaded.
