Over the last couple of months i had a hanging mouse cursor in various occasions. That is, when you move the mouse, the cursor suddenly stops and moves again only, after a (very) short period of time. I had Flash, Adobe Reader, Firefox and Thunderbird under suspicion. But i can not confirm so. Now i became aware of the fact, that CN uses a protection software to avoid license hacking for a couple of months now. Could this be the cause? Do other users experience such issues?

Hmm, how can be license protection software related to mouse hangs?
I think you should check the following:
1) Try plugging in another mouse. Maybe it is hardware issue. Especially if you have a Bluetooth wireless mouse.
2) Try reinstalling mouse driver
3) Keep Process Explorer running and see if CPU or Memory or IO spike during this mouse freezing.
If so, you'll be able to identify the offending process.
