quick feedback from my side:

Double-click on blue related tag marker to toggle 'Display only related tags'

seems not to work - I still need to double click on the tag - blue line doesn't change the mode

Probably that's because you have enabled double-clicking for switching this mode (app.mainframe.tagsidebar.doubleclick.viewrelated)?
But it doesn't make this behavior legit of course

For example copy RTF-formatted text from CN to a simple editor, like the forums editor itself:

• Bullet example
  - soft paragraph

All bullet formatting information will be lost:

- soft paragraph

While copying "old-style"-formatted text from CN to the forums editor looks like:

For other RTF capable editors like Word, the results look fine for both cases.

This is because richedit doesn't bother to convert paragraph formatting to actual symbols when copying as plain text.
But I agree this is a bug from user's viewpoint, we'll fix that.

OK it's a deal then: in the final release this enhancement will be replaced by the Ctrl+R shortcut.
And the blue line width will become 1 px thinner again

But every normal text i type into CN and copy/paste into Outlook gets an ungly yellow highlight!?

As I understand, this is not new - you had the same problem with 1.7?
I coundn't reproduce it, so please remind me the exact versions of your Windows and Outlook. Also could you please describe in detail what you're doing? Thanks a lot

Yes I had this problem before and it is not solved yet...

to reproduce:
1) type a text in a new CN note
2) select this text
3) CTRL+C
4) change to outlook or word
5) CTRL+V

If this problem is gone with Microsoft Office 2010 then
this will no longer be a problem for me in 3 weeks

Alex, i reinstalled 1.8b1 and renamed my existing CN data folder. Now when i start CN complains, that the database was created using an older CN version. Sorry can not get this to work.

I fixed that, could you please re-download?

I did. I played around creating about a dozen of dummy notes. Switched back and forth, used clipboard functions, scrolled, no crash. But what is the expressiveness of such a test? So i closed CN, copied back my real db, started CN again and crashed real easily. How? I open CN using the global shortcut. I scroll down the list using the "page down" key. About 40% of scrolling the list, CN crashes. I can do this over and over. That's all it takes. I have about 1200 notes in my database.

Probably rendering one of your notes causes the crash. The text preview renderer has been changed to render paragraph formatting.
If this is really the case, we need to find out which one..

You could provide me a special debug version, that will write a log file, e.g. containing the notes pkeys, etc. If the note causing the problem does not contain private data, i could send it to you.

i think i have identified the issue. I scrolled through my list and noted the notes that i was able to see before CN crashed. After that i turned back to 1.7, scrolled to that specific note and checked the note that comes next. Guess what? It has an empty body, that is no text. It has only title, tags and a link. I found two notes, that look both the same and both cause the crash. I installed 1.8 again and created a fresh database. I created a note with a title, tag and link - no text. No crash. Anyway, i think you should be able to identify the issue now.

Thomas, thanks a lot for your hint! With it, it was very easy to find and fix the problem.
And I think we are already ready to release 1.8 Beta 2.

Here is the total list of issues that were fixed or completed, since Beta 1:

• Crash while displaying empty notes with min preview lines > 0
• Crash after clipping with silent clipping on and sorting by link
• Was not possible to create a new database
• Search for symbol '\' was not working
• Search for string '__' finds notes which don't contain this string in any field
• Editor: copy/pasting of lists to plain text didn't work
• Wrong search highlight positions for text in bulleted or numbered lists
• Not all instances of ':' were highlighted when searching for ':' (and some other chars too)

• Editor: copy/pasting of lists to plain text didn't work -> can not confirm, still have problem

Remarks: Ctrl+R for toggling related tags works. The blue bar width isn't decreased in width, yet.

auto-indent is broken.

This also answers your question, whether we'll need the option at all. The answer is YES, the option is still needed.

As for the auto-creation of numbered lists i confirm this works fine. I can not tell what went wrong when i tested yesterday with b1. Anyway it works fine.

I tried your example and can't reproduce it.
If I start a bullet list and type enter I get a new bullet list line - cursor also doesn't jump to 'column one'?
