The new release is out, how do you like it? Especially the tags sidebar? Any ideas how to improve?
Thanks!

Like it a lot! Sidebar is nice and simple (could complain about the lack of resizability but I won't). Thanks again for some great improvements.

Can't wait for the syncable Ipod Touch (iPhone) version

+1 on the iPod Touch CintaNotes app!

I really like being able to click on a tag and instantly see all related notes! This helped me clean up my tags as I noticed several similar tags which I fixed with Edit...replace tags... I even had a misspelling :( The untagged view is great for cleaning up the clip and go notes later.

Export selected is also nice!

Thanks Alex! With every new version CitnaNotes is inching to perfection for me!

Great, thanks for your prompt feedback guys!

But Murphy really exists!.. Despite all the testing before release, I've just found a bug with the "export selected" feature, wrong notes were exported if any filter was used.
Luckily I was able to spot and fix the bug at once. Don't want to re-announce, that's too much hassle - there've been less than 20 downloads so far. Just re-download.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

No problem, that's the chance we all take using Beta software! I was just coming back to the forum to mention this, but see you found it first. The new version works perfectly as far as I can tell now. At least this wasn't a critical data killing bug...

I also discovered you can ctrl-click on multiple tags to view. Nice feature!

Excellent - well worth the wait.
Tag sidebar is very handy.
Please could I have the note body not display one blank line when it is empty - I manage My To-Do list this way. I keep switching between max lines=n for normal viewing, and max lines=0 to see my To-Do list.
A suggestion - a start-up command line option for searching, e.g. Cintanotes searchtype=tag searchstring=ToDo.
I see you have fixed moving notes when only a selection is displayed due to searching - thanks.

+1 for a show/hide hotkey!
or maybe an autohide option and/or an show/hide button next to the search bar!

i also would like to make a suggestion for the cintanotes forum:
the features request poll is a little bit confusing, so it would be nice if we had a pinned topic with a list of requested features with an indication of the ones that already are implemented/won't implement etc...

thanks for the new release

Yup I agree with this one.... The poll topic is now more than a little confused. In fact i find myself having to read the entire topic just to find out if something has been suggested before i make the suggestion.
I woul;d also suggest that maybe Alex should start thinking of taking on 2 volunteer Moderators to the board in order to free up some more time for him. These 2 could be responsible for maintaining a 'Roadmap' and a list of requested/implemented/awaiting implementation features.

tag assigning by dragging

I loved the tag management panel so much. I got to know such design from using the desktop EverNote 2.2, which unfortunately went all online and therefore destroyed the whole of it. And I see CintaNotes' great potential to replace EverNote.
I highly recommend Alex to take a look at the tag management ability of EverNote where users can create a new tag (which for me is usually the title of an article I want to write) on the tag panel (by right click within the tag panel) and then can assign this tag to notes by dragging the tag onto the area under the notes titles. This tag assigning by dragging is very direct and intuitive.
Thanks for the great software, Alex.

Not yet, but it will be very easy to add! I really didn't think that people would like to show/hide the sidebar frequently, I thought that someone would either use it or not. Guess I was wrong ;)

I'll issue an update, just need to know which key should it be.
Any suggestions?

I totally agree that the poll has become a bit dated and therefore pointless, I was thinking about doing something with it. I will certainly try to think of some transparent way to do the feature request management.

There are some options:
1) Going over to UserVoice. Unfortunately the free account is limited to 500 voters/month (yes right now we won't exceed this limit, but can we be sure it will be so in a year or two?), and using a 3rd party service is a risk.
2) Implementing a homegrown solution using a separate forum, where each topic = 1 feature request, and people vote via the poll which is associated with every topic. And also the feature implementation details can be discussed in the topic itself. In this way it will be easy to see the status of each feature (moderators will edit the subject). I think it is worth trying, and you? I think we can elaborate on this. And also, volunteers who will help me moderate this FR forum are welcome;)

Why not use a Google spreadsheet to maintain your listing? Accessible to forum members updated by you and the mods (you for roadmap and mods for requests) You can then have a sticky with a link. Seems like the easiest way of doing it to me considering the limitations of a forum. If you need a mod sign me up as I visit the forum 3 or 4 times a day anyway so I might as well do something useful whilst I am here!

Maybe something like This

No Blank line - thanks
Command line - I start CintaNotes by command line from my startup folder. At that time I woudl like it only to display my ToDo items.

@kranor:
I think that Google spreadsheet would be a bit limiting in this respect, for example, how would you organize a cheat-free vote there?

Ah that sheet would not be used for polling just a list of

1) Roadmap (without dates or priority ;))
2) Requested features, enhancements and bugfixes
3) Status of those requests

For polling we would start a new thread with each new version released, archiving the previous polls of course. This would keep the poll threads shorter and more up to date. The polls would also allow us to 'encourage' priority without it turning into people pestering you! :D

Given our currently available technology, why don't we start by creating an announcement post (or do something so it is sticky at the top of the forum index page) Each request would be created as a normal forum post, and then for the set of requests, a moderator can edit that main post to link to each request as a separate forum topic. We can all then weigh in on the feature request by posting as our vote.

The Google doc could work, in that you could see vote-cheating by going back through the versions, but that seems like a lot more effort for a mod.

Using the forum, a roadmap should also be a closed "sticky" or announcement post in my opinion. A single roadmap post could be made, and a moderator could update it by editing the post, and adding future features.
