i note this is your app...i have used it quite a while, paid for a version and nicely done. you are actively developing in a direction. i may not never use some of features you are working on.
over the years there have been many note taking/calendar hybrids, special purpose diaries, etc. all i ever wanted was a container for stuff going by that allowed me to find stuff as needed. i don't rule the universe, and good thing that. this is just a snapshot of functional utility i would want.
my frankenperfect notes_log_diary_container app:
searchable text entry
searchable web clips with auto hotlinks
store tables, images and indent functions
calendar and topic folder organization
find/report output rtf with tables/images
dragndrop organize folders
this is a mix:
advanced diary 1.3
agent ransack.
cinta notes.
good software:
do no harm
do no harm
personally useful
instructions not required basic functionality
stable and reliable
registry green/portable
low cpu/memory use
dragndrop
the paradigm of computing is changing toward the functional appliance. i have been working on confusers since the ibm pc jr, my beloved mac and now many pc's. they get cheaper and more powerful, but system stability and protection overhead doesn't seem to be changing much.
after my recent ie/offline issue with your small trusted app, i asked advice from my computer tech friend:
> how do greyhairs deal with this madness?
they bring it to me and I install Ubuntu 11 and turn off the updates.
The add/remove programs in Ubuntu is controlled by the operating
system like itunes or MSAppStore. So I don't have to worry about
misbehaving software. All of their eail is in the cloud using some sort of webmail.
And their photos etc can all be on some cloud server.
Once a year I update them. simple
No viruses, no trojans, no lockouts, no crashes. They are fat dumb and happy.

William,
thanks a lot for the kind words, and for sharing your experience and thoughts.
It is always interesting to learn how different people use CN and in which direction they think it should develop.
