Portable vs Installed Versions

I would like to install the portable version on my desktop and also on my USB flash drive so that I can easily synchronize them. Am I losing any features of the installed version by doing this? Any other problems with doing this? Thanks.

Installed and portable versions are essentially the same, the only difference is the installer.
How exactly you intend to synchronize them? There are multiple options here, each with own pros and cons.

It seems that the portable version has the advantage of saving the .db file in the same folder as the program. If the installed and portable versions are otherwise the same, then the portable version is better for me to use - even on my desktop. I have portable programs and many files on a USB drive which I use on various computers (not my own). Then when I get back to my own desktop I can use GoodSync to sync the entire USB drive to a folder on my desktop (from which I can run those same programs on my desktop).

No, where the file is saved is determined only by the location of cintanotes.exe.
If it is inside of Program Files, the .db file is saved to %APPDATA%/CintaNotes.

If you take installer version and install outside of Program Files, .db file will be saved in the same folder.
OTOH if you take portable version and copy it into Program Files, the .db file will be saved in appdata.
Hope this helps!
