How to move the location of cintanotes.db and backup files

I installed the program to the default path, C:\Program Files (x86)\CintaNotes
I installed the notes and backup to the default path, C:\Users\RON\AppData\Roaming\CintaNotes

But now I'd like to move the Note and Backup files to a different location. I want to put it in a folder that gets backed up automatically to the cloud, using my YouSendIt account.

How do I go about moving these files, so that all my data is preserved and the program knows where the new location is?

I'm finding the program verrrry useful.

Thanks much!

Ron

Hi W6AZ,

Here's what you need to do. Say your target folder (where you'd like to
put your notebook file and backup) is "C:\SYNC" (just replace with your actual
folder).

0) Make sure CN is not running
1) Create a subfolder C:\SYNC\CintaNotes
2) Copy all files except cintanotes.settings from C:\Users\RON\AppData\Roaming\CintaNotes
to C:\SYNC\CintaNotes
3) Open cintanotes.settings in notepad and edit the path to the backup folder:
backup.folder = backup
to
backup.folder = C:\SYNC\CintaNotes\Backup
4) Run CintaNotes and using the File/Open command open the .db file from
C:\SYNC\CintaNotes

Here you can find some additional info on the topic:
http://cintanotes.com/help.htm#sync

That's it!
Please let me know how it goes!

Easy. I followed your instructions, Alex, and it worked great.

I added a new CintaNote. YouSendIt quickly synced the db file, as well as two new backup files when they were made.

Now as I put more and more important data into CN, I have no worries, as it is all getting synced to the cloud quickly.

Would it be smart for me to delete the cintanotes.db file at the original default location? As it is now out of date, and I wouldn't want to open it by accident and suddenly revert to old data.

Thanks!

Ron

Depends on you really. If you're sure that you won't need it anymore, go ahead. I'd recommend to move it to the backup folder, adding the date to the name.
