Hi all,
after some discussion we've decided to disable downvotes on the roadmap.
They have been the source of constant aggravation for users which have put
a lot of time into writing up their suggestion, only to see it downvoted below the
surface level.
Many people also have downvoted useful features only because they wanted some
other features more, and I'm afraid we used to encourage this.
The downvotes which have already been cast will stay, but there will be no more
possibility to downvote features.
Hope that you understand the need for this change, and thanks for any thoughts or
comments!

Re: [Ann] No more feature downvoting on the roadmap
Hi Alex,
i appreciate that step. I admit, that i have also used downvoting in the past, because i wanted other features more. It never felt right to me, though. At some time i stopped downvoting, because of the "bad" feelings about it. It is also important to note, that there are more than 800 ideas posted to the roadmap and the whole idea of pushing the one and fighting the other has become useless. Now, that only upvotes are allowed, the solution is much clearer. If you like a request, vote for it. If you don't care or don't like it, ignore it.
Thanks for the change! I really think this is a move to the better!

Agree the logic and the conclusion.
Sounds good to me.

Re: [Ann] No more feature downvoting on the roadmap
I used downvotes to vote against features I thought would make CN worse. If this tool is misused to promote one features by fading others, I support the decision. There are other tools to promote features, like linking relevant issues together and sharing them with friends.
Arguing against features can still be done via comments, but one will have to back it up with arguments, compared to silent vote down.
UserVoice has an interesting feature of giving multiple votes to a feature, e.g. you have 10 votes and you can give 1-3 votes to every feature. You cannot vote if you spent all your votes. When the feature is implemented, you get your votes back and can spent them again. Total votes (10) and votes-per-feature (1 to 3) numbers are configurable, I think.
