Hi there, I've used CintaNotes on a personal basis for a while and it's a really useful tool.

I work for a registered charity and was looking to deploy CintaNotes to help with our knowledge management in the organisation.

How would it work in terms of cost?

At the most basic level, the solution that would work for us is to install the (portable)freeware apps on each machine and just link them to a shared file on our network drive.

Would this attract a licencing cost to the charity? And if so, how much would it be?

Hi Richard,

I'd be happy to donate a license to a charity.
You'd only need to show some proof that you indeed are representing it.
An email from the address which can be found on the charity's website would be enough for that.

Also I recommend using Simplenote sync for sharing notes between several users.
All other methods can lead to corrupted data, especially the one with the shared network drive.
(The latter could work only if the notes are rarely modified, only added. And even in that case I'd recommend to
set the "sqlite.pragma.synchronous" option in the cintanotes.settings to "FULL" instead of "OFF".)

Can I clarify the licence that you mentioned. Thank you for the donation offer! Can I confirm if that is a licence for a single user or a group? I’m looking at setting this up for a department within the charity to use.

Thank you for the heads up on the corrupted data. I need to keep the data local and off the internet due to some data being sensitive. I was looking at creating the database file and then setting it as read only for user access. I’ll pass the simplenote sync / sql advice to our IT people as I’m really only experienced as a front end user.

It will be for the whole organization.

It this case I'd recommend setting up a local FTP server and syncing a local directory with it using an utility like GoodSync.
