[Ann] CintaNotes 2.1 Final

Postby CintaNotes Developer » Tue Mar 19, 2013 10:14 am

Finally the final 2.1 release! :)

Mar 19, 2013 - Version 2.1

In this version:

Features:
  • Recycle bin for notes
    New File/Recycle Bin menu option
  • Backup: added "File/Backup/Backup Now" command

Enhancements:
  • Backup: notebook-specific backup settings
  • Simplenote sync: Improved reliability (CintaNotes has migrated to the new Simperium API)
  • Added progress bar display to import and export
  • Editor: Context menu for the "Link" field
  • Note links: updating link caption after retargeting the link

Fixes:
  • Links to notes: import could break local note links
  • Fixed spurious "Synchronization failed" errors
  • Create note link: error on creating new note
  • SN sync sometimes couldn't download all notes
  • Accelerators were not working when modal dialog was open
  • PRIMARY KEY contraint violation on adding note links
  • Simplenote sync: better handling of HTTP error 412
  • CN could suddenly clear all tags and sort order from all sections

Download:
Installable: CintaNotes_2_1_Setup.exe
Portable: CintaNotes_2_1.zip

I look forward to using this, but I got an error message:

The notebook file '....cintanotes.db' [i.e. my old database file] was created by a older version of CintaNotes and cannot be upgraded.

Error message: Precondition failed:
ui::Window::getHwnd
isAttached()

Is there perhaps something in my settings file that has caused this?

Is there any way I can download the previous version. I tried downloading the install for 2.0.4 here: http://www.cintanotes.com/files/. But, it downloads 2.1 each time and on every browser. So now Cintanotes is not functional for me!

Sorry, please try re-downloading, now it should work!
Also any older CN versions can be found here: http://cintanotes.com/files/old

Thanks for the quick reply! It worked perfectly! But, any idea why the new version won't recognize my old database file? Or are you still working on figuring that out?

Well actually it has recognized it - it has recognized that the file needs to be updated.
This is because the new version has changed the file format (more specifically, added recycle bin table to the database).

Sorry, now I understood from the other forum posting: you meant to re-download the new version. I did so, and it seems to have fixed the problems. Thanks for the quick fix and reply! You do a good job with the program and support!

Hi Alex,

thanks for the 2.1 final release.

Recycle bin:
  • first click on "deleted" still does nothing
  • Caption "Size (KB)" in english is ok, but in german "Größe in KB" the width of the caption does not fit. Maybe this could be changed to "Größe/KB".
  • Caption "Delete permanently after [xx] days" is fine, but the german translation should be (imo) "Lösche Notizen dauerhaft nach [xx] Tagen". Rather than "Bewahre gelöschte Notizen für [xx] Tage".

Thank you for testing the betas!

Oops, yes, my oversight. Will be fixed in the next update then.

And why not "Größe (KB)"? :) Also please note that you can drag the column dividers to change their width (and it will be saved).

Fixed on Transifex.

Thomas Lohrum wrote:[*]File link now creates correct links using %20. However the new shortcut conflicts with my personal request here http://roadmap.cintanotes.com/topic/151193-add-a-shortcut-to-remove-bullets-in-a-single-step/. Imo this is a disadvantage since i expect the other feature to be used more often over creating file links.

Sorry that I've used this shortcut. (But it seems that the votes there don't really testify to your statement that the feature will be heavily used - at least yet :) May I suggest Ctrl+Shift+Del as an alternative?

Ctrl+Shift+L relates to Ctrl+L for creating a list. We will see by the time the feature will be implemented, what will be best.

Seeing an odd bug with this release on my (32-bit Vista) desktop PC. Right-click on the icon in the notification area produces, instead of the usual menu, the full window opening -- but only until the button's released again.

My Win7 netbook doesn't have this problem so I assume it's either "something went weird at install time" on the Vista box, or it's a Vista-specific bug. (The install appeared to happen normally on both machines.)

[later] it seems okay now, post another reboot. Probably just some weird anomaly. Vista, after all. ;)

Well thanks anyway for the report, and if this happens again, please let us know)
