Hi Alex,

  • Recycle bin window size and placement now remembered - confirmed :)
  • Editor: note link caption now updated on Ctrl+Alt+L and Enter - confirmed :)
  • Updated translations - confirmed :)
  • Recycle bin: first click on "deleted" did nothing - confirmed :)

Editor: note link caption now updated on Ctrl+Alt+L and Enter

When i press Ctrl+Alt+L on a link, whose referenced note title has changed, i now get a special entry "<update link caption>". Fine. Thank you.

When i press Ctrl+Alt+L on a link, whose referenced note title has not changed, the first matching item will be focused in the list. This is strange. Imo the item should be focused/selected, which represents the referenced note.

Hi Alex

Thanks for the new version - the 'update caption' feature for links is handy ;-) and works as expected.
I can't see the 'Request free trail'' button but I assume this is because I already have a valid license installed!?
( :o ups, only a few day's left for free updates - have to take action)

@Thomas regarding...

After reading your comment I wonder what would be the reason for someone to press Ctrl+Alt+L on a link (other than updating the caption) and what benefit would one have to select the note that is already linked!? Wouldn't it be more likely that he wants to change the link (not sure about that - just wondering).

Hi Chris,

great to see you're still out there. I missed you in the forums discussions. :)

The reason for my suggestion is, that when i press Ctrl+Alt+L on a link i get confused, when the focus is on a caption, that has nothing to do with my link. If i really want to retarget my link, i would first delete the link and then create a new one. You ask, why someone would actually press the shortcut on a link, other than editing it. Well, to confirm the link target, respectively check, whether the caption needs to be updated. It doesn't hurt to focus the corresponding item, right? If i really want to select another note, i could start typing for some matching notes.

Thanks - yes I am still intensely using CN but had only little time to join the discussions lately - should be better now

Sounds comprehensible to me.

OK we'll just always display the "Update link caption" item, even when the note's title or link caption have not changed and still are in sync.

Hi Chris!
Great that you liked the link caption update feature.
Yes, you don't see this button because you already have a license.
It is only visible on fresh CN installs where no license has been registered.

Alex, please be aware that the referenced note title did NOT change. So the issue is NOT about updating link caption! When i press Ctrl+Alt+L on the link, instead of highlighting the referenced note, the first matching note will be highlighted, whose title is similar.

Example Note 1:
Text: check here SQLServer bla bla

Example Note 2:
Title: SQLServer

Example Note 3:
Title: Windows and SQLServer

As you can see, Note 1 references Note 2. But when i press Ctrl+Alt+L on the link, Note 3 will be highlighted.

If Note 1 references Note 2, it works as expected: "SQLServer" is highlighted. However when Note1 references Note 3, Note 2 is highlighted which is wrong.
But I get your main point: the user should get a visual cue whether the captions are still in sync or not.
Since when they are out of sync, the item "Update link caption" will be displayed, this is only the case where they are the same.
In this case the note is guaranteed to be in the list, we just need to focus it.
OK, now I'm persuaded, we'll implement it like this. Thanks.

I don't agree. The referenced note should always be highlighted as a confirmation, that the link is still valid and as you state, captions are in sync. If i want to retarget, i can start a new search. This corresponds to the latest implementation of the update link caption feature.

I don't exactly understand your answer "(...), this is only the case where they are the same.". You mean, when the captions are in sync, right? I think we agree on the issue. Thanks for the change. :)
