Only oneway sync to Simplenote ?
I've got a bunch of duplicates that i just deleted from Simplenotes but when syncing with CN,
they all get back in, so i guess we have to be content with oneway sync from CN to SN?

No, the sync is both ways. Are you sure that the notes were indeed deleted in Simplenote?
Where did you delete the notes, online or in some other client?

Re: Only oneway sync to Simplenote ?
You're right.
What didn't help me was the fact that i had also used another program for Outlook and i've had to make quite a few deletions.
When syncing, CN shows 'downloading' the number of notes deleted (which i had done online) when in fact, it is simply removing them from CN database. Should the term 'downloading' be changed to 'removing' so that we understand from which side sync is giving priority?

What works best for me is to do deletions, tidy ups, etc in CintaNotes.
I can confirm sync works both ways.

The problem here is that with the new Simplenote API, CN has to download a note to see what is to be done with it: add, change or delete. But we'll try to find a way to improve the wording.

Thanks for the follow-up Alex.
If it's like trying to remember someone's name you haven't seen in a while, you'll probably find a solution while working on something else.

I think we'll just replace this message with something more neutral like "Retreiving updates information")

That's a common mistake Alex.
Being bilingual (French/English with a bit of Italian) i find myself confronted the anguish of choosing which word has double consonants or not as there are quite a few similar words to those languages.

I feel your pain, as these are all languages of Roman descent, if I'm not mistaken
No, wait, English is Germanic.. but probably this doesn't help much anyway

Re: Only oneway sync to Simplenote ?
I have a question that's related to this. First off, thanks so much for implementing this feature! It makes CintaNotes the perfect note-taking tool for me.
After I synced to SimpleNote with the new version 2.2, I had duplicates of most notes on the SimpleNote website, with one note having the #section/XXXX tag and the other without that tag. I thought I'd simply delete all notes on the SimpleNote website to start fresh (I emptied the trash). I would expect that when I subsequently sync from CintaNotes, all my local notes will be uploaded to the SimpleNote website, as none of them exist there, but they do locally. The opposite is happening, though: all my local notes are deleted and I end up without any notes locally (reflecting the situation on the SimpleNote website), even if I select 'Take local' as the conflict resolution policy. Am I missing something here? What do I need to do to upload all my local notes to SimpleNote?
Thanks!

Re: Only oneway sync to Simplenote ?
Hi Ron,
Welcome! It was a very needed feature for us as well
Sorry for this. The duplication probably happened due to you changing the number of sections to synchronize before doing the sync in the new version - can it be the case? I need to do some additional testing here.
But after that the CN's behavior was actually correct: how could it know that you wanted to keep the notes that were deleted online? Sync works both ways, when you delete notes online, they get deleted in CN. (The conflict resolution policy only dictates which version of the same note should be preferred when it was changed both online and in CN.)
Ok so you want CN to treat all your notes as "new" for Simplenote. There's a way to do this: in the File/Synchronization dialog, change your Simplenote login
to something else (this doesn't have to be a valid SN login), press OK, read the warning, press OK again. Then change your SN login back to the correct one. Now all the sync state will be deleted, and all notes in CN will be considered new.
If you sync now, CN will upload ALL notes up to SN. BUT - you'll get a lot of duplicates now again, which you'll have to delete, because it will also consider the notes in SN to be new and will download them.
I think it is actually easier to handle this in other way:
1) Export CN notes to XML
2) Delete all notes in CN
3) Empty recycle bin
4) Sync with SN to delete all notes there as well
5) Import XML
6) Sync with SN to upload notes
The second approach is easier because you won't have to weed out the duplicates again, but it is also more dangerous because it involves deleting all notes from SN, so please use at your own risk!

Your second approach doesn't work. All 275 were imported successfully, but only 10 (seemingly random) notes were actually synchronized with SimpleNote and I end up with only these 10 notes in CintaNotes.

That's really strange. And what about SN, how many notes are there now?

Re: Only oneway sync to Simplenote ?
Really beats me why this happened.. But you still got that XML, right? I suggest you do the following now:
1. Create a new CN notebook with File/New
2. Import the XML with 200+ notes (import with sections!).
3. Configure SN syncing of all needed sections
4. Sync it.
This should fix the things up.
