Forum download directory emptied?

It appears that several (most, all?) of the files available for downloading within this forum have been removed or made unavailable. Is this a known situation? Are they gone forever? Is it worth re-uploading missing files?

Unfortunately they are deleted forever. This is the way forum dealing with old files.
I guess you mean these files - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1401&p=7497#p7497
It would be great if you reupload them!

I hope you can find the switch to turn off that forum "feature".

Old? Those files were less than a year old! The space they took is miniscule -- less than the byte size of some forum threads. It wasn't just my contributions -- other people's donations were also dumped. Its a little like cleaning house and starting by dumping all the jewels in the trash, but keeping all your old newspapers with the expired coupons.

Oh well, I've loaded my files back up.

Hi Mark,

really sorry for this. We've found out that it wasn't a forum "feature" after all, since the quota of 500MB wasn't reached by far.
One idea is that these attachments could have been inadvertently deleted during the forum upgrade procedure.
Thanks for uploading the files back. Next time we upgrade we'll put extra effort to backup all attachments.
