Option doesn't work for new notes

The option to "Use the first line of text" works only for clippings, not for New Notes.

It doesn't make sense IMO, and wish you'd modify this behavior in the next update.

thanks for your message! This is by design - after all, the option is in the "Clipping" menu.

But the suggestion to make this a global option is already on the roadmap, and is doing really good:

Please vote! The more votes it gets, the sooner it'll be implemented.

Also a clarification is needed: do you want the title to be copied from the first line, or do you want CN to show the first line as if it was the title in cases when the title is empty?

Not sure of the difference. The same as with the clippings, I guess, as long as the title is changeable.
