[Ann] CintaNotes 2.7.1 Beta 1

Postby CintaNotes Developer » Fri Aug 15, 2014 11:11 am

Aug 15, 2014 - Version 2.7.1 Beta1

In this version:

Enhancements:
  • New option: "Options/Startup/Notify when Activating Existing Instance"
  • Editor: improved pasting into lists
New setting "editor.lists.paste.alwaysintoitem" and new command "Paste Into List Item"
  • Simplenote sync: improve syncing down of notes w/o #section tag
  • Anti-feature bloat: removed unnecessary options "Editor/Text Formatting" and "Editor/Auto-Indent"

Fixes:
  • Editor: removing bullet list style didn't work correctly for multiline paragraphs
  • Editor: entering CJK symbols with Microsoft IME corrupted links
  • Editor/Replace: "Replace All" button worked as simple "Replace" when activated with Enter key
  • Clipping: whitespace trimming could in some cases corrupt newlines
  • Command line interface: Opening notebook didn't work when path contained quotes, spaces or national symbols
  • Simplenote sync: in some cases sync could't finish, always trying to update same notes
  • Message boxes could appear on the wrong screen with a dual screen setup
  • Fixed wrong UI labels when "lang" directory is missing

Download:
Installable: CintaNotes_2_7_1_Beta1_Setup.exe
Portable: CintaNotes_2_7_1_Beta1.zip

WARNING! BETA SOFTWARE! USE AT YOUR OWN RISK AND ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR DATA FIRST!

Hi Alex,

after installing, when i try to start CN, i get:

"Das Programm kann nicht gestartet werden, da enigma_ide.dll auf dem Computer fehlt. Installieren Sie das Programm erneut, um das Problem zu beheben. "

Thomas

[EDIT]This happens with both images (.exe and .zip installation)

Hi Thomas,
thanks for reporting the issue. This is my fault, fixed now. Please re-download using same links.
Sorry again!

Alex,

thanks for enhancing CN's paragraph handling. I confirm removing lists style from multiline paragraphs is ok now. However i have encountered issues when pasting into paragraphs.

  • create text "1111\n22222\n3322\n" with PsPad-Editor. Pasting into list item, will create separate items for each line.
  • create text "1111\n22222\n3322\n" with CN. Create new List using Ctrl+L. Pasting into list item will remove the list and insert regular lines instead. Hint: using regular pasting with the new ini-setting enabled will give the desired result.

This happens regardless of the new ini-setting.

Remark: When removing list style from a paragraph and adding list style again, the paragraph will be restored entirely. It seems, that when removing list style, vertical tabs are kept. They don't get turned into CrLf?! Is this intended? Can this lead to strange results when working on the text? The least this can confuse users, when creating a list will give varying results, without obvious cause.

Alex,

i have just encountered an issue, which probably exists for a long time already. When using arrow-up/down in the context-menu of the editor, disabled items won't be skipped. You have to press the arrow-key again, to move over them. Yet, there is no visual clue to this. It is obvious that the arrow key must move to the next enabled item instead.

I got an error when I tried to open CintaNotes_2_7_1_Beta1.zip (the compressed zip/folder is invalid). To make sure nothing on my end was interfering, I downloaded 2.7 Final - that opened ok.

One more issue regarding pasting:

Example:

  • aaaaa
  • bbbbb
  • ccccc
  • ddddd

Steps to reproduce:

  • the always paste as paragraph option is active
  • press Ctrl+A to select all
  • copy to clipboard by pressing Ctrl+C
  • create new note
  • paste text by pressing Ctrl+V

What you get is:

  • aaaaa
    bbbbb
    ccccc
    ddddd

My expectation is, that the format of the source text remains in that case.

Indeed, the .zip file Alex uploaded is corrupted (and that is why it won't extract).

Thomas, thanks for reporting these issues. I confirm and we'll fix them in the final 2.7.1.

That's an interesting question. In CintaNotes I've found no difference between a CRLF and vertical tab, and probably the restoration of the list items can be beneficial. Let's wait and see if any negative effects come up. I think that if they do, they'd be connected with using text from CintaNotes in other apps.

Unfortunately this is a bug of standard Windows menus, not CintaNotes. The only problem is that in CN, the selection of the grayed out item is not visible at all, whereas in Windows it is visible (example: Win+R, calc, Alt, Enter, 4xDown). So we can't fix that easily without replacing the whole menu system. The only thing we can do, is provide some greyed out selection for the disabled items which doesn't do anything but show where the active selection is.

Thanks Gunars, Nod, fixed the zip file now. There must have been some problem when I was uploading the file.

Just wanted to report that my SimpleNote-Sync is not working
and saw that you did a bugfix in the current beta.

I can report, that (at least my problem) is fixed -> simplenote-sync is working again :)
