Today I attempted to change the editor.colors.highlight setting. After I changed it and saved the file in Notepad, the setting was reset to the original value. My change did not hold.

Any tips on changing this or other advanced settings?

10 minutes later.... It appears the trick is NOT to store a backup settings file in the same directory. When I moved my backup (labeled "cintanotes.settings--orig") elsewhere on my hard drive, my setting change held.

Probably you didn't exit CN when you were nodifying the settings file, this is why your changes were overwritten.
