Beta M10 Preview

Hello guys,

unfortunately due to the major overhaul BetaM10 is running a bit late.
Today I'll present the preview version, which contains the following:

  • Feature: AND and OR modes for tag sidebar (#177)
    Now Ctrl-clicking on a tag means AND and Alt-clicking means OR.
    When in OR mode, the highlight is yellowish. As for now, the modes
    are mutually exclusive.
  • Enhancement: Tag autocomplete should only be enabled in Anywhere and Tags search modes (#197)
  • Fix: Note editor: focus is not restored at activation (#190)
  • Fix: Clipping while a note is open and then pressing OK causes CN to crash (#199)
  • Fix: Tag autocomplete dropdown can go off-screen (#200)

I hope you are not disappointed since this is not much, but a lot of things changed
from the inside, so I'd like to see if there are any regressions.

Advanced backup (#186) and adding notes on top (#101) are still coming. Plan to release it next week.

Thanks for any early feedback!

Looking good so far.
It loses all my configuration - but that's easy to reset.

Nod,
is there any error message or just silent crash? Is there a .settings file on your laptop? Thanks

I’ve always run it from a stick that I move about between desktop and laptop. I installed beta 10 on my desktop ok. When I moved to the laptop it failed on loading - standard windows fail message. I reverted to beta 9, and have just gone back to beta 10, and it’s all ok now. I guess the next key test will be when I move back to my desktop later today. I’ll let you know what happens. Nod.

Downloaded & tested summarily -- by placing exe in previous portable version folder.

- Lost all previous settings, solved by reconfigure;
- AND or OR tag selection seems to be working OK;
- window size and position aren't sticking between sessions (as reported previously, after 'cintanotes.settings' editing).

Will keep you posted...

P.S.:

Never mind me, just release it when it's ready, and I'll be happy...

I tested it moving only the notebook from my main installation to M10 Preview, everything fine so far, but I'll keep trying to break it and I'll report any problems :)

All is still Ok and thus I presume it was something I did. Maybe removing my stick too soon? Nod

I confirm the settings problem and will fix it with the Beta M10 release (but be prepared that most probably the settings of _this_ preview version won't load).

But the crash is still not reproducible, which worries me a lot. Maybe there is someone else except Nod who has experienced it?

I plan to delay the release till all the newly found bugs are fixed. Actually I'm on a little vacation now with no quiet work environment, really slow Internet over GPRS on my Samsung NC10 netbook, and as you can guess it hinders my ability to get this release out as promised quite a bit (unfortunately I'm that kind of guy who is really sensitive to noise and other distractions which make it difficult to remain in the programming "flow"). But I return next week, and then I'll be able to really get to work.
Thanks for all your help and patience!

I've not had any crashes since that original one - and I have swapped my stick between laptop & desktop many times. I'd assume it was something I did. Nod

Take your time Alex. Enjoy your vacation.

BTW, according to The Register, yours is one of the best netbooks out there...
