Ok, but it was already possible except that you don't have to open a note now, can do it in the main window. But you still need to select text, what then is the advantage over clipping?

All working fine now!
I can revert to default settings in AquaSnap.
Thank you very much Alex!

Well, the obvious advantage is that now you don't have to use the keyboard. Many people only hold the mouse while surfing online, so it should come in handy.

Hi Alex,

my second day with 3.7 beta 1 revealed a new bug regarding copy to the clipboard.

This is the error message i get when copying (Ctrl+V) or cutting (Shift+Entf) to the clipboard:

---------------------------
[Error]
---------------------------
class err::InvalidArgumentException
Precondition failed:
app::controls::`anonymous-namespace'::calcDuplicateTextCount
from <= to && to < text.length()

The content does get copied to the Clipboard. Seems like the bug happens after that. The content of log1.txt shows the bug happening five times today. No further information available.

Thomas

Hi,
there is a small bug in dragging URL from browser.

When I drag an URL from Mozilla Firefox (click on small icon "i" on the left) and drop it to CN I have that result in CN:
e.g.
http://edition.cnn.com/2016/08/29/fooda ... index.html

If I do the same and drop it on desktop (or somewhere else) I have an internet shorcut with extension .url and also with text description, e.g. "World's best barbecues -- from Indian to Brazilian - CNN.com"

Can you improve drag and dropping and add description too, please?

thx.

Hi palos,
Thanks for your comment!

Could you please clarify what exactly are you dragging? Is is a link on a webpage?

Yes, Alex,
it is a link on a webpage. It would be nice to have description too, like when you drag and drop to desktop /or elsewhere/.

You can paste a description to first line and link to second line. Or you can put description and link together /like as you copy links from webpage/, it doesn't matter.

Thx.

Thanks for the clarification!
That's a bit odd: when I drag links from Firefox to CN, the link descriptions are retained.
For example, when I drag the link "Download portable version" from cintanotes.com to the main CinatNotes window (with 3.7 beta!), I get
a new note with a link with title "Download portable version" and target as http://cintanotes.com/etc

It would be great if you provided a sample web page with a sample link, so that were are sure we are talking about same kind of links.

Hi Alex,

maybe I didn't write it exactly. I write about a link dragged from address bar not from page.

E.g. I have http://cintanotes.com in address bar in Firefox or Chrome. If I drag and drop this link to desktop, I can see new icon (extension .url) with name "CintaNotes - A Note-Taking Application for Windows".

If I do the same and drop it from address bar to CN, I have new note with such a text "http://cintanotes.com" and it is bound to link http://cintanotes.com

It would be nice to have a new note with text description "CintaNotes - A Note-Taking Application for Windows" bound to link http://cintanotes.com
or
to have two lines, first with the text "CintaNotes - A Note-Taking Application for Windows" and second line with link http://cintanotes.com

thx.

Oh, I see. Well, this is different. This is not actually a bug, because this function was never programmed.
Probably this idea on the roadmap would fit the bill for you? It already has a lot of votes:
http://roadmap.cintanotes.com/topics/48 ... ion-empty/

If this was implemented, you'd simply press a hotkey to record the page as a note, with page title as note title
and page URL as note's link.

Unfortunately it is not exactly what I'm looking for. Your suggestion assume only one link/webpage per note.

But I have found a workaround. First add webpage to favorites in browser. Then copy and paste from favorites to CN. It's not comfortable, but at least it works.

That's a good workaround! Actually, copying and pasting any link to the page in question should work.
