New notes already have a tag assigned

.
I've just discovered that my last few new notes already have a tag assigned.
How can I prevent that?
BTW: I have no rules defined.
Thanks.

Hi,
If you created notes by clipping, uncheck "Options/Clipping/After clipping/Assign currently active tags".
When you add notes using Ins or Ctrl-N, CN automatically adds currently active tags (otherwise the note wouldn't be visible in the list).
Currently there's no way around that, but in the future version I'll make it configurable.

Thanks for the info.
Is there any way to guarantee that any new note will NOT have tags assigned ?
BTW: I use CN only as a simple (and the best) note-taker with tags. No frills. The only way that I've ever created a new note is by Ctrl+F12.
Thanks.

If you only use Ctrl+F12, then unchecking "Options/Clipping/After clipping/Assign currently active tags" should suffice to make sure that newly clipped notes are untagged (provided there are no autotagging rules defined that would apply).

With respect, I don't believe that the specified option acts as expected
Here are the results of three tests. "ACAT" means "Assign currently active tags". "ER" means "Expected Result" for the tag in a new note using Ctrl-F12
.
The third test shows that the current tag is inserted in the new note, despite ACAT being unset.

Hi OG
FWIW - Using CN 3.13, with ACAT unset and a tag selected. a new clipped note did not have a tag, as expected. Maybe there is some combination of other options that cause the behavior you're seeing. If you can created a new notebook that exhibits this, maybe send it to Alex to see what might be causing it.

Indeed, with 3.13 I see different behavior. We seem to need to dig deeper on this, could you maybe send me your settings file?

Got it, thanks!
I think I now understand what's the problem.
In your settings file, Ctrl+F12 is not used for clipping, it is used as hotkey for "Add new note".
And this function indeed always adds currently selected tag regardless of the ACAT option (because that option is for clipping only).
What you can do:
1) When you're not in CN, to add new note, use clipping hotkey without selecting anything! It will add a bit of delay, but it won't add currently selected tags.
2) If you're in CN, use Esc + Ins combination to add notes.
Or, if it is a specific tag that you don't want added, consider creating a rule that would auto-delete this tag from notes in Inbox section.
Hope this helps!
