Hi Brian,

sorry for the late reply.

Brian wrote:No, it hasn't.

For the sake of clarity here is what I'm talking about:

When I clip from a webpage or other program I am happy with how CintaNotes takes the title from the source programs titlebar.

When I open CintaNotes and manually add a note via "Insert" and leave the title blank I would like it to take the title from the first line of text in the note.

Ok I see that we need a more elaborate parameters in this area. The current "title" options relate only to clipping (with some exceptions, which really are not very consistent). If we add a global option "use first line of text as title if title is empty", this should do the trick. Am I correct?

My preferred action would be
- Whenever a note is created it takes its title from the first line
- The title can be edited
- If a title is deleted it reverts to the first line

But what about the people who might prefer having a blank title?

Seems odd to me to have a blank title, but then no reason why some would not want it.
Maybe an option?

Possibly. I'm still trying to think of some elegant logical structure of all these title policies..

Hi Alex,
Have you had further thoughts on this?
I’d like to have the title come from my first line of text when I paste a note in.
Thanks, Nod

I consider that we can treat pasting directly into the main window the same
as clipping, so the same policy can apply.
This is a very easy change, so I'll include it in the next update.

If anyone is opposed to this, please speak up!

Nod, I kinda feel stupid - it actually has already been implemented, and I've tested it once again in 1.5.5.
Setting the title policy indeed has impact when you Ctrl+V something in the notes list.
Could you tell me if it is working for you as well?
Thanks

No – it’s probably me.
I have 1.5.5. Portable
I have set Options / Clipping / Use as title / First line of text
From Firefox, I clip, and see a new note with title as per first line – ok, so far – close that note
Press insert – see blank new note – copy the following 2 lines (CTRIL C)
As he spoke he smiled,
and the lamplight fell on a hard-looking mouth
Go to note body, paste (CTRL V)
Title remains blank –press ok – note is save with blank title.

Id like this feature aswell... though would like if it was separate to webclipping.

For webclips I like that it takes the title from the window title.

For a note I write or paste it would be great if it took the title from the first line of text if no title is manually entered

Ok seems that I've misunderstood.. I was assuming that you speak about pasting notes from clipboard directly into the notes list,
not into the notes editor.

I have added the idea to the roadmap: http://roadmap.cintanotes.com/topic/959 ... -is-blank/

If it gets a score of 10 or higher, it will immediately be put into the pipeline since it is easy to implement.
