[Other] [Formatting] Hanging Indent as Used in Microsoft Word

The only way I can get a paragraphs to stay together, so that the first line sticks out a little to the left, is to use bullet points.

However, just a regular hanging indent (meaning without the bullets) would be something that I'd use all the time. It works really well in Microsoft Word.

Thanks for thinking about it!

Hello daveg,

Thanks a lot for your suggestion!

A couple of questions:

1) Why separating paragraphs with an empty line is not an option for you?
2) How should this hanging indent be handled without having to complicate the UI with a ruler control?

Thanks!

Thanks for getting back to me!

I've got two reasons for not having spaces between such paragraphs.

1) It's the same reason you keep bullet points together, because it's makes it like a list and works well for people that way.
2) Not having spaces between paragraphs is not the only feature. It's also about keeping the list together in the same way as when you use indents but making it clear that you're on a new item (in the way one gets either with a hanging indent or a bullet point, but that you don't get with a normal indent)

However, this is a sophisticated word-processing feature that I'm proposing, and maybe few people will actually use it.

Thanks for thinking about it. You've got a nice, very useful program with or without my proposed feature.

Hi again and sorry for the delay!

I've added the idea to the roadmap here: http://roadmap.cintanotes.com/topics/846-/
Please vote for it, and share a link to it. If it gets enough votes, we will plan the implementation.
