[Search] Remember search settings

Postby Peter7885 » Mon Jan 23, 2017 8:45 am

I have 'search inside words' and 'search across field boundaries' enabled but every time i close and start cintanotes these options are disabled so i have to enable them again. I think if cintanotes doesn't disable these settings on closing will be useful.

Actually both these settings should be remembered! Are you sure that the settings are reset?

I think the problem is that i am using two .db profiles. I am starting them from shortcuts and when i start both profiles, 'allow multiple instances' option is enabled, and enable for both profiles 'search inside words' and 'search across field boundaries' after closing and starting cintanotes these two options are disabled. If i start just one profile these two options stay enabled after closing and starting cintanotes.
I am using cintanotes portable on Windows 7 x64.

Any solution for this or it's a bug?

I think the problem is that you start 2 copies of CintaNotes from same location.
But there's only one settings file, and the copy that is closed last overwrites changes
from the copy that closes first.

Solution: use a separate copy of CintaNotes for each of the db files.
The main point that there should be two cintantoes.settings files.
It's easy to do using the portable version of CN.

This will also give you the possibility to use a different icon color and clipping hotkey.

Then I'll have to ask you to collect some log data and send to me, so that I can see first-hand what's going on there.

Could you please do the following:

1) Run CintaNotes and activate "Help/Debug/Debug Logging"
2) CintaNotes will restart. Change the search settings as needed, then exit and restart the program manually.
3) Check that the search settings got reset, then exit CN.
4) This will produce the file named "log.N.txt" (either in CN folder,
or in %APPDATA%\CintaNotes), where N is a number - please send the 2 latest
files (it will be the ones with the max N) to support@cintanotes.com

Please note that this file may contain some of your private data, such as tag
names (but no passwords). You may want to edit the file and remove this data
first.

Hope this is not too much to ask, thank you!

Sorry, for the delay. I think i found the problem. I was still starting the two profiles using the shortcuts with the database parameters. I started each profile from CintaNotes.exe file and now each profile remember the settings.
