[Managing] Adding a column of hierarchic structure ?

Postby lanno » Tue Sep 04, 2018 6:02 am

Hi,

Cintanotes is a great note taking software! And it can be greater.

If you keep the tabs at the top and add a hierarchic structure, it will be much better.

Hi and thanks for the suggestion!
Actually I'd prefer to keep things simple with section tabs. Ability to activate more than one tab is already out of the ordinary for some users.
Why don't you use the hierarchic structure of tags for this purpose?

Hi Alex,

The difference between hierarchical tags and hierarchical sections is if I use hierarchical tags, I have to tag every note and change tags for every note when I need to reorganize the notes, but if I have hierarchical sections, I only need to save the notes to the right sections, I do not have to tag every note, and when I need to change their places, I can simply drag and drop.

And it becomes even more important when you share the exported html file with someone. It makes the html file look like a book.

PS
I just realized that it's not necessary to have more than one active section tab.
You can only have one section tab activated for people to write/edit the notes, then save to the right sections (which are hierarchical).
I also love simplicity.

Unfortunately I see a number of problems with hierarchical sections:

1) Can no longer be presented as tabs (=complication)
2) Should notes from sub-sections appear when super-section is active? If yes, it becomes necessary to add section display to notes in the list (complication); if no, the logic of sections is broken (the notes is inside of a section, but is not displayed).
3) It becomes easier to mix sections and tags. If CN had hierarchical sections, it would be better if tags were not hierarchical. But now we can't go back and make tag structure flat again.
