[Editing] A hard hyphen would be useful

Currently, a hyphen is treated in the same way as a space during word wrap. In other words, the text after the hyphen wraps first.

Examples: fire-resistant, second-rate

When discussing word endings, such as -ion, -ism, -ed, -ing

Of course, any hack or workaround would be fine too.

Thanks.

Hi and sorry for late reply!
Do I understand correctly that you need ability to enter a special hyphen that won't be wrapped? Or do you want CN to not wrap on all hyphens?
Thanks!

Thanks for your response.

Before submitting my original request, I tried Shift+Ctrl+hyphen

That combination is available in Word for Win.

If possible, it might be safer to implement an alternative, rather than offend the millions (thousands? hundreds? 4?) people who prefer soft hyphens.

Thanks.

Well, copy-pasting the U+2011 NON-BREAKING HYPHEN character (https://www.fileformat.info/info/unicod ... ertest.htm) already works. Note that not all fonts can properly display it.
You also should be able to enter it as Alt + 8209 on the numeric pad.
We'll also consider adding a keyboard shortcut to insert it.
In the meanwhile, it's not hard to arrange such shortcut using external tools such as Autohotkey, for example.
The added benefit would be that it will work in all applications, not just CN.

I don't mind using something like Alt+8209. But when I tried it on CN, I got an empty square.

The square behaves like a hard hyphen.

Thanks.

Changing the font to something like Arial Unicode might help here.

That worked fine. Thanks.
