Reordering/Sorting

I hope I'm in the right place, as I've hunted round for information on alpha sorts for the notes and this appears to be the closest area to post.

Firstly, nice tool.

I would like to be able to sort in alphabetical order by note title. Unfortunately, without this, I may not be able to work effectively in my domain with this tool.
My notes are rarely time-based (for retrieval) and sometimes, they are not grouped by tags. Therefore, if I am coming back to the list, a while after creating a note, the easiest way to see what is there is to check an ordered list - date order doesn't help me and a search is an additional unnecessary step.

Any chance of adding that feature? I don't want to export/sort/import.

Many thanks for any enlightenment you can provide ... or of course a new feature.
Colin in Belgium.

Welcome to the Forum!! If you have a look at the Roadmap post Have a look at Item #72 this covers note sorting by title, time and link. This item has been accepted but may well have a lower priority at this time, so will be available in a later version.

I do not think so. It has 66 votes now.

f.ex.
only one feature has more them:
'Support for multiple note files (#76)' has 100 votes

Great. Thanks... hopefully, it will be sooner rather than later :P

The number of votes a feature have is not the only impact on priority. Have a look at
This Topic for the formula and at this one for priority scores

Could someone point me to today's priority list of the features requested please, so I can see where "my sort wish" (#72) appears? Many thanks.

As far as I know, this post viewtopic.php?p=1510#p1510 was the last insight from the developer about what probably will be coded next.
There are the topics showed by kranor, the "Roadmap" viewtopic.php?f=3&t=119 and this feature requests subforum. My feeling is that there's not an ordered list of featurers, that will be introduced, set in stone for many reasons, for example because the developer is open to discussion and may reprioritize things as the discussions on the forum develop. Or because there's the need of introducing code that it's not a feature in itself but it's there as the foundation of a future and healthy maturation of CN. Again it's just speculation but I see the development of CN as not totally community driven and not totally developer driven but these needs meet in a good compromise. I'm personally happy so far of this model. Anyway if the migration to SQLite still holds true, sorting may not be far in the future :)

Thanks ale. Hey, I wonder if the developer is partial to Belgian beer or chocolate :o Perhaps we could chip in and get him some to move 72 to the top of the list  .

if you go to this topic there is a poll if you cast your vote and make a comment that will help raise the priority :D

Yep, voted for it a few days ago ... not sure it will let me do it multiple times :?
Perhaps we can get all our friends and relations to vote ;)
It's a great little tool and I'd really like to keep using it, however, I will shortly have to made a decision as my note "database" is growing rapidly.

Hello guys,

sorry for joining in a bit late ;)
kranor, ale, many thanks for helping our fellow CNer to make sense of all the madness with feature priorities :)

Colin, I'm happy to tell that indeed note sorting is to be done in the upcoming 1.0 release. Which I hope won't be delayed again,
but hey, if I have to select between dates and quality, you bet I'll go with the second.
Actually I've always admired that same approach of my favorite game maker - Blizzard ;)
Starcraft II anyone? ))

And I'm actually quite impartial to Belgian beer ;) Not to offend all the others, but to my taste belgian is the best, especially the one called Pauwel Kwak)
But I guess it won't be right to accept such things in exchange of feature promotions ;) I just recommend it to anyone who has access to it)

YES ! Thanks Alex and tomorrow, I'll try to find that beer to taste it. Will be in the US in a week, so could always bring a suitcase of it... but then perhaps it would be confiscated and I'd be locked up or something.

Thanks, Colin,

the problem here is only that I'm not in the US, I'm in Russia :)

NO Problem ... I think a trip to Russia would be better in fact and it has to be easier to travel there ;-)

I have some feature. I'd like to discuss its with all
I use CintaNotes as Business blog [what I done, when, what is category, who is contact-person, ...] I describe fact. All notes are sorted by dates. It is well. I can see all notes sorted by person or by project or ... any tag.

But I'd like to have some notes always in top. Maybe there are sticked notes. These notes will be my current plan (for day, week, ...) This [sticked] note must be first in its category always.
What do you think about it.
