Add a title mode view

Postby etmr » Sat Jan 16, 2010 11:16 am

Wonderful note gem.

The only thing I would add, is the option also to view the notes in a more economical “Title Mode”, as a list of titles.

Thus, clicking on a title of a note will open the note.

Thanks.

Hello Ethan, welcome to the forum :) CintaNotes has a setting to finetune the preview of a note in the notes list, you can find it in: menu View > Note Appearance... > Preview text lines. There you can choose a min and a max value. I think you may try to set both values to zero so that text will be hidden and see if the result suits your goal of seeing only the title of the notes.

Hello Midas,

Many thanks.
Works wonderfully.
Why are the tags still shown under the titles ? I thought that
the "tag bar" does this job :?:
I mean that if I want to see the tags, I would choose the "tag bar"
view. Why do you show the tags also in the notes body :?
Thanks,
Ethan :)

Hello, the tag sidebar and the tags that we see in each (tagged) note serve a different purpose, a tagged note shows its own tags, I see them as a property of the individual note just like the title, the time, the date and so on. The tag sidebar lists ALL the tags of the notebook. It's true there's a little vertical stripe that highlights the tags of the current note but I see it just as an extra convenience for the user.
Now back to your observation about a way to hide tags in notes, I think it's already in the roadmap as feature number 132. You can read the roadmap here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=119

Hello etmr,

ale is absolutely correct except for one trifle thing.
The little vertical bars don't show the tags of selected note(s). They show the tags which are related to the currently selected tags in the sidebar (the tags in white rectangles). Let's call all the notes that satisfy tag sidebar selection "current view". In short, the tags with vertical bar are those that notes of the current view have _other_ than the selected tags.

What are they useful for? They indicate on which tags there's sense to Ctrl+click to get further refinement. Ctrl+clicking on any other tag, although allowed, will yield empty view.

Hope that it's clear, sorry that I couldn't explain it more briefly and concisely)
Alex
