[Other] Syncing with Simplenote

I've been using Cintanotes (great app!) for a while and currently run it from my Dropbox, but how about the option to sync notes with Simplenote as well as the current database?

It's free, they recently allowed you to add tags to notes and there's basic version control: http://simplenoteapp.com/features/

I'm interested in the option of being able to access my notes database from my phone (there are quite a few apps for Android/iPhone/iPad) as well as my desktop and Simplenote could be the glue that holds it all together?

Cheers,
Mick

Already on the roadmap at http://roadmap.cintanotes.com/feedback/5100-simplenote-synchronisation/

Please go there and upvote.

I really think this will be a much needed feature, since I recently acquired an Android mobile (Samsung Galaxy S) and installed two free apps that do exactly that (mNote & Andronoter), which I'm still testing.

There are options to read the notes on desktop PCs (google Notational Velocity if on Mac or Resoph Notes for Windows) and even a Firefox addon (QuickFox Notes), but I'd rather keep it simple and use CintaNotes.

See, it's such a good idea, someone's beaten me to it!! 8-) Just been over to the roadmap and voted for it

I've been experimenting with Resoph Notes as I like the idea of being able to sync my notes with my forthcoming new phone (almost out of contract!) but, like you I much prefer Cintanotes and I'd rather maintain one set of notes instead of two.

Incidentally, if you use Sublime Text, one of the guys on the forums has written a plugin to add info to Simplenote

Cheers,
Mick

Do you think it should be part of CintaNotes or an extension to it?

Hi Alex

Personally, I think it should be optional, so that you can choose whether to store notes as usual as well as sync them with Simplenote.

Like Midas, I'm about to acquire an Android phone so being able to use Cintanotes on my desktop and read my notes on my phone will be invaluable.

Cheers,
Mick

Thanks Mick, I'll keep that in mind.

I think an extension would be more appropriate, since only a subset of CintaNotes users (mainly those with Android/iPhones or working multiplatform) will need this... (maybe you could re-use the code of QuickFox Notes for this, since it seems to be open sourced).

Following up on my post, I've decided to keep mNote on the mobile. Although add based (there's also an add blocking app at the Market) it has better features and is more stable than Andronoter.

What features does Cintanotes have that Simplenotes does not?

How does it handle tagging? Will that cause any issues?

Seems appropriate time to revisit this topic ;)
Mick, Midas: have you tested the recently released Simplenote sync, how do you find the implementation?
