Thanks a lot for your suggestion. Sure thing UI localization is on the roadmap. I just don't want to do it before the 1.0 comes out and the program is much more stable in terms of features. Otherwise, each release would be about updating language files.

And also thanks for offering your hand in translation, although I speak a little German myself, help from a native speaker is invaluable ;)
Would be great if you could register here so that I can contact you for the translation when the time comes. Thanks!

Thanks for offering help with translation.
I'll get back to you when the infrastructure is in place.
But first we need to have CintaNotes 1.0.

maybe they could start by translating the HTML help file and posting them here. This would help others and would be less work than language or localisation files?

It won't be less work because of sheer volume: translating the help is about 95% of all translating. But it is something that can be done right away and I agree that this should be the starting point.

Great Idea - many of us are multi-lingual and can we can crowd source the effort. A wiki would be better than a bulletin board for this though so more than one person can work on a single version...

I completely agree, but I would, since I'm not the one setting it up...

But I want to suggest http://www.wikidot.com for this effect -- I have a small personal wiki there and IMHO it's the best free hosted solution...

I haven't used wikidot, but it looks nice. I have currently have dozens of wikis running for various projects all using MediaWiki the engine behind Wikipedia. It integrates well with phpBB and Alex can likely set one up on his host. There is a mod that can create a "wiki" group that allows members of that group edit rights on the wiki without logging in as long as they are logged into phpBB.

Hello,

I can help the translation into Japanese.

I don't know how to work in wiki style, but I am sure many Japanese users are happy to work translating together since this software is up on a major download site in Japan.

In any way, please let me know if you need any help on translation into Japanese :geek:

I can help with the translation to Hungarian, as much as my free time allows me.
And congrats on version 1.0!

Thanks a lot, guys, I'll let you know as soon as multi-language infrastructure will be in place.
But the main thing is not translating the UI itself, but translating the help file. UI is easy, help is not.

Hello, I also would like to participate in localisation, specifically Czech language.

But I noticed that searching does not work as expected for characters with diacritics - searching english characters is not case sensitive but searching non-english characters is case sensitive, e.g. term "fiancée" is not found in "FIANCÉE"

I would suggest that for searching, by default diacritics should be completely ignored like case, i.e. a search for fiancee should find financee, FIANCEE, fiancée and FIANCÉE
