crash when start in win7 x64 SP1 (2.0)

Postby EddieChu » Thu Dec 20, 2012 11:11 am

The program will not start(not with "-d" either), it shows the message window:

"Error Executing Program! (5)"

cintanotes.exe 2,284,440 2012/12/19 18:46 -a--

software package is downloaded from your official site today right after discount License order. :(

I have read the post dated "Tue Oct 16, 2012 4:28 am" with title "crash when start in win7 x64 (1.8.2)"

CintaNotes_1_7_1.zip
CintaNotes_1_8_3_Beta0.zip

The 2 versions above can be run normally on my machine.

Please help the new comer, thanks. :)

Hi!

Sorry to hear about the problem!
Is CintaNotes located in Program Files? Does it run from any other folder? Thanks for the info!

I put Cintanotes in "I:\pkg\Cintanotes".

Are you suggesting it will run normally only in specific location? If so, where do you recommend?

I tried put it in "c:\Program Files (x86)\CintaNotes\", the same error message window pops up as the last time.

Any further suggestion?

Thanks for the info.
CintaNotes should run fine from any location.

Please tell, when you run it with the '-d' parameter, is the log file produced?
If so, could you send it over? Thanks!

Alex,

I will put my steps below:

1)Unziped the v2.0 portable version into i:\pkg\Cintanotes and run, popped out error message window.
2)Installed the v2.0 install version into i:\pkg\Cintanote and run, popped out error message window.
3)Checked the forum and read the similar crash case.
4)Tried "-d" parameter, popped out error message window. And no log file found.
5)Tried some previous versions from the site, run normally as stated in earlier posts.
6)Posted help request in "Bug Reports" section.
7)Moved \Cintanotes from "I:\pkg" to "c:\Program Files (x86)\" and run, popped out error message window.
until now.

What am I supposed to do now?

Best Regards

Thanks for the additional info!
Since no other such reports came, there must be something unusual about your system.

1) Are you running any Anti-Virus software? Can CintaNotes run if you temporarily disable it?
2) Is the file cintanotes.settings created when you run from "i:\pkg" ? If so, could you post its contents?
3) Could you please post the screenshot of the error message window?

Thanks a lot and again I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I'm sure with your help we'll be able to fix this asap.

Alex,

I disable my anti-virus "Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 Chinese version" temporarily before run cintanotes.exe, then I get another error message window(see attachment "exe_without_KIS2013.jpg"). I get the "Error Executing Program! (5)" back when I enable the KIS2013 again.

I will post other files as you wished. Please also see attachment.
I don't remember when the file "cintanotes.settings" has been created? It could have been created when I run the older version of Cintanotes.exe.

Hope these files helps in the situation.

Best Regards

EddieChu

Thanks for the info!
But I really need to know about the verson 2.0:
1) does it create the cintanotes.settings file?
2) does it create the log.1.txt file (when run with "-d") ?

Thanks!

Alex,

Thanks for your quick response.

In order to clear things up, I decide to un-install Cintanotes completely and re-install it again.

I un-install Cintanotes and kill the directory manually, then I install using "CintaNotes_2_0_Setup.exe".

Right after my installation, I agree to launch the program, then the error message pops out(see attachment "start cintanotes.exe after re-installation.jpg")

Also see the files after installation shown in attachment ""files after re-install.jpg".

I try to start "Cintanotes.exe -d" in command prompt, and I get the original error message window

Ans to 1): No, it does not create file "cintanotes.settings"
Ans to 2): No, it does not create any "...log..." file at all.

Eddie, thanks a lot for the new information!

Could you please take a look into the %APPDATA%/CintaNotes folder?
When CintaNotes is in Program Files, this is where the settings and log files will be located.
Thanks!

Alex,

There was a "CintaNotes" folder in %appdata%, but file "cintanotes.settings" within it out-dated than when I re-install it.

To make sure, I do the following:

1)Rename "%appdata%\CintaNotes" to "%appdata%\CintaNotes-X"
2)Un-install Cintanotes
3)Re-install Cintanotes
4)The same situation happens again as the last time, error message window popped out...
5)There is no folder "%appdata%\CintaNotes" appearing any more.

Still a bit in the mist...?!

Best Regards

EddieChu
