Hi to all!
I just installed the portable version of 2.01, then opened it. It worked fine, opening the database I last used, as it should. Then, before doing anything else, I decided to create a new database: I closed the existing one and selected new. The next thing I knew was the infamous blue screen!! Win7 had crashed (the first time this ever happened to me since I bought this machine 18 months ago). So there must be something really wrong happening under the bonnet. I'm attaching the info I got from windows.
Thanks for any help!
PS1 - needless to say I'm duly registered so, according to the website, I should be able to manage several databases
PS2 - I tried to upload the info mentioned above, but apparently the BB refuses any extension, so I'm just copying the shortest file:

Re: Version 2.01 crashes win7 x64
Hi jlm,
thanks a lot for the report, and for supporting us via buying a license!
From the first look of it, the code 3b indicates the error was connected
with the graphics driver. I can hardly imagine that CintaNotes could cause
such a problem, so it probably was just a coincidence, but of course
the possibility of a bug in CintaNotes cannot be completely excluded.
Can you reproduce this error, or was it a one-time event?

Re: Version 2.01 crashes win7 x64
Thanks for this very prompt reply! Since I was starting a job which requires a lot of note-taking, I reverted immediately to version 2.0 (with which I've had no problem so far) and will stick to it until I'm done with this job - which should take me no more than a few days. After that, I'll give version 2.01 another try and will report any problem I have.
In passing, there was an additional problem, minor this time. I had selected the debug option in version 2.01 before my machine crashed. So when I reverted to version 2.0 it was still on. When I exited the program I had a popup message (apparently coming from the underlying compiler) which said something about a runtime error (but I didn't have time to make a note). A similar message had also popped up once before, under version 2.01, in the same context. When I disabled the debug option, no more message occurred.
Finally, as I said, I never had a blue screen with this machine before, nor any problem with my graphics driver (at least that I noticed). Besides at the time of the crash, CintaNotes was operating simultaneously with OpenOffice Writer 3.2 (which as far as I know is well behaved) and Firefox. But nothing more exotic was running.
In any case, thanks for your help and maybe others will experience similar problems

Hi Jim,
you could check the event-viewer messages, to see if any problems were reported.

Re: Version 2.01 crashes win7 x64
jlm,
I second the question of Thomas about the event viewer.
Also I strongly recommend upgrading to 2.0.2 beta 1, since version 2.0 had a number of very serious issues, one of which you've probably encountered.
Running CN with debug logging on (Help/Debug) - at least for some time - won't hurt either and in case of any further problems might provide immediate insight on what's going on.
Thanks!
