Hello,
I am not a programmer & try my best to stay away from the insides of my computer, so I barely understand the jargon.
I'm running CN 2.0.1 on a Win 7 64 bit.
Earlier this week I installed the free version CN, just to see if it is what I need to track & organise my bird's nest of notes & ideas.
Yesterday I made tremendous progress, typing in tons of story ideas from my large collection of notebooks. I had 18 main note pages, with countless tags cross-referencing the lists and other info in them. Today I tried to open the program and I got a dialogue box: 'Cannot load notebook because the following path is inaccessible: "C:\Users\Domnitjen\AppData\Roaming\CintaNotes\Domnitjen.db"', with the options to "Create new", "Open existing" or "Exit". I tried the first 2 options with no success; tried that last one hoping it would open the program anyway, nada! I tried uninstalling then reinstalling the program to no luck.
I tried even looking for the file it was asking for & opening it through "Open with", with the same result.
Can you tell me what has happened (in the simplest language)? And if it is possible to recover my notes or at least to transfer/convert them to a txt file so that I can print them out? I copied the db files, in case anything got accidentally erased.
Up until this morning I really liked CN and was considering purchasing the upgrade. However at this point all I want is access to my notes. It was hours of work through pages of cryptic scribbles and some of those copied notes had been updated after I typed them into CN.
Please help me.

Hi Dom,
really sorry about all the grief!
You say that you've copied the .db files - this is great, it means that most probably your notes are safe.
I can't really tell what happened because I'd need more data.
Could you please try the following:
1) Download this file http://cintanotes.com/files/beta/CintaN ... _Beta2.zip
and unpack it to any folder outside of Program Files, for example into c:\apps.
2) Rename the "C:\apps\CintaNotes_2_0_2_Beta2" folder into simply CintaNotes.
3) Copy the .db files you've saved into this CintaNotes folder
4) Run the cintanotes.exe file in this folder and choose the File/Open command
5) Go to Help/Debug and activate the "Debug Log" option
6) Select your old .db file and press OK => CintaNotes should load your old notes.
If it doesn't happen and you get the "Cannot load notebook" message again,
please find the file named "log.1.txt" in the same folder and send it over
(warning - this file can contain some of your notes' data, so if your data is sensitive,
please review the file before sending ).
Thanks!

Thank you.
Your instructions worked, however now the program won't open (same "inaccessible" dialogue box) unless I double click on the exe file in the folder that you had me download.
Did I do something wrong?

Hi Dom,
could you please try the latest version 2.0.2?
It should provide more information about the problem.
Also please try using the Import command instead of Open.
Let CintaNotes create a new notebook and import your old notebook into it.
Please let me know how it goes!
