Changing Section to Synchronize causes CN to crash

I have a lot of notes in section "main", and these are synchronized regularly to SimpleNote. However, I've noticed that long notes tend to get truncated, and the bottom of the note gets deleted everywhere. Since I don't really need the long notes to be synchronized, I thought I'd create a separate Section for notes that I want to synchronize. so I created a new section caused "Synchronized", and reconfigured synchronization to use that section (which was still empty) instead of "main". I received a warning that the cache would be reset and all downloaded notes would be treated as new - which is fine; I could just delete them once they downloaded. I hit ok, and then CN crashed with the attached error. This is repeatable; happens every time.

CN 2.0.3.

Hi, thanks for the report!

We couldn't reproduce this problem, I suspect it may be data-related.
Could you please activate the Help/Debug/Debug Logging mode, repeat the problem, and send the generated log.1.txt file back to support@cintanotes.com?
With this file finding and fixing the culprit should be easy.
Warning: the log file may contain some of your private data, please review it before sending.

Thanks!

I can't reproduce it now either, but that's probably because CN keeps getting Authorization Failed when it tries to synchronize. I've tried deleting and re-entering my credentials, turning off and on synchronization, using a much faster network connection. Using the exact same credentials at the SimpleNote portal works fine.

Once I can synchronize again I'll try to reproduce this issue.

Thanks,
Jeff W.

Jeff,
could you please try this version: download/file.php?id=289

The authorization issue should be fixed there.

I am running 2.0.4 beta 2, and authorization still fails. I've attached the log.

Thanks,

I went back and checked my signin credentials, and somehow two characters of my password were missing. Once I corrected the password, authorization succeeded.

And no crash. As I write this it's currently re-downloading about 1100 nodes. I guess it will take a while.

Thanks,
Jeff W.

It got to 30 notes and then stopped.
I started synchronization again, and it got several hundred notes and then stopped, but didn't have any more than the original 30 in the section.
Started it again, and this time it downloaded over 500 notes, and then stopped again.
It started again by itself (I guess because I have auto-sync set to 5 minutes), and it started again from note 1 out of 1123.
During a period when it was not downloading notes, I tried deleting some of the notes in that section. I found that empty notes could be deleted just fine, but any note that had content in it would elicit the attached exception. I have also attached a debug log - the failed deletion is the very last thing I did before closing the log.

Forgot to mention: I'm on version 2.0.4 (released version) now.

Thanks,
Jeff W.

Jeff,
could you please try the new 2.1 beta: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1573

The issues you're referring to should have been fixed in it.
If the issues are still present, we'll be very grateful if you could again provide a log.
Thanks!

I upgraded to 2.1-beta, and here's what happened:

- It upgraded my .db fine
- I turned on sync for the "synchronized" section, which was currently empty. Had to fill in the password again, which had once again been inexplicable shortened by 2 characters
- Saw the message "Initializing synchronization" (or something like that)
- That message stayed on the screen for 10 minutes before I exited the program.
Unfortunately I had forgotten to turn on debug logging, so no logs for the above.

- Restarted the program, turned on debug logging, and enabled sync again for the "synchronized" section
- synchronization seemed to start properly this time, but after 10 minutes I checked back, and sync had terminated, with only 4 of 1100+ notes downloaded, and 3 of them were empty.
- Log attached. cintanotes.settings attached as well.

By the way, I renamed the section to "Titanic", and now it's sync'ing.

(Just injecting some levity...)

Any update on this?

Just so you know, I've reverted to version 2.0.4, and disabled sync'ing completely for now.

Thanks,
Jeff W.

We've fixed some issues, but unfortunately we can't be sure that it was exactly what was wrong in your case.
Please try this version:

http://cintanotes.com/files/beta/CintaN ... _Beta3.zip

WARNING: upgrades DB file format (backup is created automatically).
