Retain line breaks in exports (especially HTML export)

I often export my notes to HTML. When I open the HTML target file in a browser, everything looks nice, but if I copy the notes to past, for example in an e-mail message, all line breaks get lost, because they are not created in the HTML file itself (i.e., the created HTML code does not contain <P> or <BR> tags).
Example:
<div class="note section8">
<a name="ee56b3ff-103b-4dc9-bd92-5554f1036df6" />
<div class="header">
<div class="date">Created: 5/8/2013 12:22 AM</div>
<div class="title">SDL Trados Studio - 13813-4 LMCO Aviation ITA</div>
</div>
<div class="tag">13813-4/Questions/To_ask</div>
<div class="text">This consists of quantities of individual grains, each having a clearly defined boundary, <em>that chemically differ</em> from the metal within the grain.
Q. Is this correct? As written it says that the individual grains are chemically different from the metal within the grain. Shouldn't the sentence read "...clearly defined boundary, that chemically <em>differs</em>...", that is that what is chemically different is the boundary vs. the metal inside the grain.</div>
</div>
My note contains two hard returns between "grain." and "Q. Is this correct?" - but since the export does not create <p> or <br> tags in the HTML code, when I paste these notes from html to an e-mail client, I lose the line breaks
Example:
<div class="note section8">
<a name="ee56b3ff-103b-4dc9-bd92-5554f1036df6" />
