During a "copy" operation, a trailing space is dropped

I have CN 3.11 with Win 10 Pro.

If I double-click on a word, and then extend the highlight to include a trailing space, the space is not persistent during copy.

Example: This is a sentence.

Highlight "This" in the example. Extend the highlight to include the space. Ctrl+C.

Insert cursor immediately after "This". Ctrl+V.

There's still only one space after "ThisThis"

Now insert cursor anywhere within "sentence". Ctrl+V. No space is inserted after "This".

In both of the copy operations, the trailing space has been dropped.

Note that I don't support the M$ method of ADDING an unwanted space after double-clicking. The simple rule should be "What-you-DO-is-what-you-get". So, IMHO, the CN result after double-clicking a word is CORRECT. (And the method used by this forum software is INCORRECT. :) )

I'm afraid I can't get the same behavior. Could you please elaborate how exactly do you extend the selection? Thanks!

You must be in a note, and your desired word must have a trailing space.

- Insert your cursor somewhere within the word that you want to copy.
- Double click.

The entire word is selected. The highlight terminates just to the right of the selected word. (IMHO, this is correct behaviour.)

Dragging with a mouse is too tricky for me, because I have shaky hands.

- Press Shift.
- Press Right-arrow once.

The highlight is extended by one character.

- Press Ctrl+C

Yes, I get the same behavior in Win 7 with CN 3.12b1. If I select/copy some text with leading and trailing spaces and then paste it, leading blanks are preserved but trailing blanks are stripped. This is only in the body of a note. It works ok in the title, tag and remark fields.

Hi,
Deeply sorry for unannounced prolonged silence. I'm back now to processing bug reports.
Seems that I still can't reproduce this on Win10. Can this be possibly Win7-specific?
Will check on my Win7 VM and get back here.

Actually, OldGrantonian said he was getting this on Win 10 Pro. I could duplicate it on Win 7.

Oh, my mistake. Indeed he mentioned Win 10 Pro.
Then I'm afraid I'd need the settings file to make sure that my editor configuration is exactly the same.

@OldGrantonian, if you edit your cintanotes.settings file and change "clipping.trimwhitespace = 1" to 0 (zero), it will stop trimming the trailing blanks.

Gunars, that's brilliant! I completely forgot about this setting.

Extended memory :D

That's the great thing about all of the parameterized settings, that you can customize many small details like this.

Indeed. I like this in other software as well.
Also I think it's great when there are some "advanced" settings, which are not necessary for 95% of users and are hidden by default, but that can make a big difference for 5% who will buy a Lifetime license in exchange ;)

Many thanks for that suggestion.
