The more I use this app, the more I love it - I have noticed that if you have a note open and maximise the window then you can't see the 'Ok' and 'cancel' buttons as the bottom of the window is obscured by the taskbar. The same issue occurs if you maximise the main application window.

Presumably the 'maximise' option isn't taking into account the height of the taskbar?

I can replicate this behaviour on XP/SP3 and Vista Business/SP2 at resolutions of 1280x1024 and 1440x900.

Regarding the issue you describe, unfortunately I can't reproduce it on my WinXP SP3 machine.
Could you post a screenshot of this, please?

Issue closed because the described behavior was caused by a third-party program (Stardock Fences).
