Hi Alex,

"Highlight the note that is about to receive drag-and-dropped tag" works fine and is a welcome addition.

Is there a setting to deactivate the new "add space to tags" feature?

The way I use CN is usually to add levels to existing tags (e.g., the tag "ProjectXYZ" becomes "ProjectXYZ/Questions_Asked/" or "ProjectXYZ/Changes_to_make/", and a space automatically added at the end of a tag means that I have to backspace before being able to add to my existing tag.

Yes, I am curious about the new 'add space to tags' feature myself. I can't think of any reason why anyone would need this - personally I am not someone who likes a program changing anything I type in behind my back. Why was it added?

Not according to the help file, no.

It was a request of one of the users.

A space is not added to a tag, but after the last tag so you can jump to the tag field and easily add tags. As far as I know, this is not a new feature only that in previous versions it wouldn't work when you type a tag without autocompleting, then saving, then returning to the tagfield as described here.

Besides that, there is a very rare bug where CN will completely stop adding spaces even on autocompleting.

But this wasn't possible before or was it :?:

Not letting the tagfield add a space at the end in order to accomplish this thing you want is only useful when the tag you want to add to appears coincidentally (alphabetically) at the end of the tagfield. (In any other case it makes more sense to use the arrow keys instead of backspace.)

Yes, that was my first thought - but I could not find a forum thread where it was requested.

Ok, that is a lot better. The wording clearly needs to be changed if that is the case, because as it stands, it says to me 'this feature will add spaces to your tags, thus changing them'.

Hi guys,
Chris is right - I chose very poor wording for this change (probably already too late to fix the wording).
A space is added at the end of the Tags field, for easy addition of more tags, - not to tags themselves.

Oleg, thanks for pointing to the original discussion!

Hi Riccardo,
note that the feature is not exactly new. CN has always added a space to the end of the Tags field after loading a note into the editor.
However, after saving it with Ctrl+S, the space was trimmed. The change is only that CN now does a better job of ensuring that there's always a space at the end so that you can easily add more tags.

About your use case, I'd second date's question: this only matters for you if the tag is the last one. Are you sure this is a real problem for you, or was it just theoretical? I'd like to hear about your experience of using the latest version. Thanks!

Hi guys,

it was me asking to add a space so behaviour is consistent and thus easier to add new tags. With this improvement it has become easier to me. As others have already pointed out, the requirement to remove that space exists only, if the tag that needs to be expanded is the last one in the tags field.

In my case the tag is usually (95% or more of the cases) the last one (and the only one): I assign a tag per note, and only add subordinate tags as described.

I may have several notes per project, and each note uses the tag chain to record its status. So note A may have the tag "ProjectXYZ/Questions/To_Ask", notes B and C "ProjectXYZ/Questions/Asked", note D "ProjectXYZ/Terms/To_Add", and note E "Project XYZ/Terms/Added".

Usually these tags "grow": at first the tag may be sim0ply "ProjectXYZ", then it becomes "ProjectXYZ/Questions", and so on.

It is rare for me to have two tags or more in the same note... as I understand others use CN.

You say the space was added already before... but probably I didn't notice because I saved the note (Ctrl+S).

I'm wondering if whether to add or not a space automatically at the end of the tag field could be made controllable via an option -- that way users who add several different tags could have the application set one way, and people like me who normally use one tag only (and add only subtags) could have it set differently.

Thanks for the clarifications. Well, adding such an option should be no big deal. I'll set it up for the next version.

Still jumps when you open a note, press Tab two times, then scroll down the body and click.
Note that using Ctrl-arrow down, there is no issue.

Anyway, enjoy your vacation ;)

Looking forward to that, and I hope that will happen soon.. having to delete the added space all the time is driving me crazy!
