Maybe I'm just old ( :( ) but I don't really mind the current UI at all. That said I'm not against a refresh, and I would like to turn the menu bar off and so on. Primarily how I use CN is as a tool beside my current working application. As such, screen real estate is a premium, and I would prefer stuff like "Add note" buttons to be small and unobtrusive or the ability to remove/hide them - I only never use keyboard shortcuts for the most part. What has niggled me about a lot of "new" UI designs is they have enormous swathes of flat empty space. It really annoys me. The first thing I do on every Windows installation is shrink the enormous fat task bar and hurl it off onto the secondary monitor out of the way. Similarly with Atom (my text editor) and Vivaldi (my browser) I turn off the status bar, menu bar, and so on.

High DPI screens might also be nice as I am currently trying out my workflow on a Surface Pro device which has a relatively high resolution.

- Modern Material-design influenced look with some cool animations (but not overdoing it)
NO. I like CintaNotes exactly because the simple UI

- Support for high DPI screens
YES

- Configurable color schemes
YES

- Move all settings from main menu to a separate configuration window
NO, please.

- Get rid of menu bar, replace with single menu button
NO, please. Do not follow Autodesk menu's look.

- Get rid of most recently used notebook list in File menu, replace with notebook tabs
Add the notebook tabs as dropdown list somewhere between navigation arrows

- Allow selecting text directly in the notes list
NO. might cause misclicks. I like that the text stays safe until any note is opened

- Allow clicking on links, tags and attachments directly in the notes list
YES, but allow the possibility to turn this feature off in options

- Render previews of attached images
how? as a mouseover?

- Proper saved searches
HOW?

- "Add note" button
YES

- Docking to screen edges
YES

- Accept text drag-and-drop
NO

- Allow editing notes directly in the notes list (but prevent accidental editing)
NO. I like that to edit text, the note has to be opened

- Either undo or note version history
HOW?

- Optional text formatting toolbar while editing
NO. I personally like the formatting options on rightclick

rhickman, Mirakodus, thanks a lot for your input! I'll take it into consideration, especially when deciding about priorities, feature optionality etc.

Thomas Lohrum wrote:One feature i'd like for the new UI is Three-Frame-View -- Window Layout with Tags, Titles and Note content

Layout like email client with three frames is the most important thing for me too. It would rapidly increase productivity.

And please add a slider to tags frame. Using arrow buttons as it is now is not very comfortable.

I look forward to upcoming enhancements.
