BetaM10 is released!

Postby CintaNotes Developer » Thu Jul 23, 2009 1:45 pm

Beta M10 is released!

  • Feature: AND and OR modes for tag sidebar (#177*)
Ctrl-clicking on a tag means AND and Alt-clicking means OR.
When in OR mode, the highlight is yellowish. As for now, the modes
    are mutually exclusive.

  • Feature: More advanced backup scheme - hourly, daily and weekly backups
    (#186)
CintaNotes now creates three backup files: notebook.hourly.dat is
updated each hour, notebook.daily.dat - each day, and
notebook.weekly.dat is updated once per week.

  • Feature: "View / Reverse Order" command reverses the notes in the list
so that latest notes come first (#101)

  • Enhancement: Tag autocomplete in search box is now limited to Anywhere
    and Tags search modes (#197)

  • Enhancement: Option to edit note immediately after each clipping (#202)

  • Enhancement: Switching to Untagged after clipping is now optional (#205)

  • Enhancement: Focus is not reset if current note stays in view after
    searching or cancelling search (#204)

  • Enhancement: Autocomplete suggestions are not hot-tracked in the text
    box anymore (#206)

  • Fix: Note editor: focus was not restored at activation (#190)

  • Fix: Clipping while a note is open and then pressing OK caused CN to
    crash (#199)

  • Fix: Tag autocomplete dropdown could go off-screen (#200)

Download:
Installable: CintaNotes_BetaM10_0_Setup.exe
Portable: CintaNotes_BetaM10_0.zip

Let's discuss the new version here!

I've updated the Wikipedia page - we need some creative people to help fill out that page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CintaNotes

The Twitter update is also posted.

I Like the new backup and reverse order functions, No problems so far!

Excellent Update. My most sought after features implemented in one fell swoop

Just one thing to note...

From the readme:
"Upgrading
---------
Portable version: Extract all files from the downloaded archive into your
current CintaNotes folder, overwriting old files. Your notebook and settings
won't be overwritten."

As you have archived the files within a folder named CintaNotes_BetaM10_0 as opposed to just archiving the individual files themselves, if someone follows your instructions to the letter they will just end up with a subfolder called CintaNotes_BetaM10_0 in their CintaNotes program directory.

Not a problem for most users but maybe worth a change to help any inexperienced users (as you've made sure to keep CintaNotes exremely user friendly so far).

Maybe just rephraze the readme entry or consider archiving the files individually.

Thanks again for a great program. All the minor annoyances I had with it are gone with this update :D

Updated! Looking good. :)

@work: previous existing problem with window settings/position persists, everything else ok.
@home: all is fine and dandy.

I'm loving the reverse ordering feature! 8-)

Is it me or M10.1 really should select the oldest (bottom one) note in the list after adding a new note with reverse order enabled? :?

hmmm
>fc /b CintaNotes.exe.old CintaNotes.exe
Comparing files CintaNotes.exe.old and CINTANOTES.EXE
FC: no differences encountered

using http://cintanotes.com/files/CintaNotes_BetaM10_2.zip

Wrong .exe in portable version?

Thanks for fixing that bug, and for you great app!

Yep, my bad. Was in a hurry, guess it's another reason to get back to my abandoned automatic release packaging script..
Updated the file.

An unforeseen side effect of the newest note on top feature:

- When you clip two notes and then merge, the older note gets merged into the newest...

Must confess I rather preferred the other way around, but will make do.

Hmm, maybe we should just make merge always use the note's timestamp to determine ordering?
