Yet another strange sync issue

Postby MerleOne » Mon Dec 01, 2025 9:35 pm

Hi,

I recently realized that on one of my Win10 PC where CN is installed, sync is not launched automatically every 30 min as it should be. I have specified this delay in the sync settings but nothing happens unless I manually launch the sync by clicking on the small dedicated gadget at the bottom of the main window.

I have tried to reinstall CN with the installer over the previous version but this doesn't change anything. Maybe a hidden setting in the registry ?
Thanks for any hint !

Hi Merle,

This is quite strange -

1) is CN running in the background?
2) maybe the sync starts but can't finish successfully?

thanks!
Alex

Hi Alex, thanks for your reply !

1/ Yes, CN runs all the time, the icon lies in the notification area
2/ Could be but when I manually launch it it works fine. Is there some kind of log where I could see what happens ?

Sorry for late reply! There's been an issue with forum notifications.

Re sync:
You can enable debug log in Help/Debug/ Debug Logging.
This will restart CN.
Wait for more than 30 min with CN running - by that time sync should definitely have been started, then exit CN.
Then a log file will be created either near cintanotes.exe (if portable), or in %APPDATA%/CintaNotes (if installed).
It will be in the form of "log.<number>.txt".
Open the file having the largest number (it's the last log) in an editor that can handle large text files (VSCode, Sublime Text, Notepad++, klogg, etc)
Search for entries with "app::synchronization::SynchronizationManager::onCompleted", there you will be able to read the sync messages that appeared on the bottom sync bar. Going upward there maybe some detailed error messages.
If there are no such entries, search for anything containing word "synchronization". It should give us a hint to what has happened.
