notebook.dat path setting

Postby hquadrat » Thu Oct 15, 2009 7:44 am

Hi all,

I've been searching for a while and just could not find the information: how can I set a different path for the notebook.dat file? As many, I want to put the file into my dropbox and therefore need to specify a different location.

Thanks for a quick hint,

Henning

Sorry, but in current version of CN you can't do that. This is planned for later versions.
What you can do now it put the whole CN folder into your DropBox folder (this is how I sync my notes).
Note that in this case it's best to put the backup folder outside (via editing the cintanotes.settings file),
because otherwise there will be many "conflicted" versions of backup files.

Hi Alex,

thanks for your thoughts on that, I will proceed as you suggest.

There comes another question into the game: the installer version and the portable version, are they identical once installed/unpacked? I ask that because I will have to move my installed version to the dropbox-folder now (and in addition for future updates which might be faster with just overwriting the files with the portable version).

Thanks,

Henning

Yes, they are completely identical, with the exception of the unins000.* files which are required for uninstalling the program.
