[Managing] feature ideas

Postby Brian » Sat Jul 03, 2010 3:57 pm

I have a couple of ideas.

I find the new roadmap voting system great, but a little awkward for seeing if your feature idea is already on it, as opposed to the old list version of the roadmap.

Also, I've not been frequenting these forums for a while so alot of feature requests/plans will have escaped my attention.
Apologies if I'm retreading ground with these.

1)
Can you run multiple instances of the portable version? If so, I can imagine setting them to different colour schemes and hotkeys could be quite useful.

But perhaps when you change the colour scheme it could also change the tray icon to a matching colour.
This would allow the instances to be differentiated in the tray.

2)
Instead of running multiple instances, maybe Cintanotes could have multiple DBs on different tabs in the one instance. These tabs would need custom hotkeys and colours as above.

3)
It would be great if in the tags bar it listed how may entries there were for each tag in brackets after its name - as it does in evernote - see pic

4)
Subordinate tags.
e.g. say you have a tag "book" and want a subordinate tag "chapter"
When you tag something "chapter" the "book" tag should be added automatically.
Also, in the tag bar, "chapter" would be indented under "book"

Thanks as ever for a great program

Loving many of the new updates :D

Brian

Hi Brian,

thanks for your great suggestions!

1).. instances to be differentiated in the tray

Added to the roadmap:

2)
Instead of running multiple instances, maybe Cintanotes could have multiple DBs on different tabs in the one instance. These tabs would need custom hotkeys and colours as above.

Well not exaclty like this, but there are already features on roadmap that would solve this problem:
http://cintanotes.userecho.com/feedback ... g-hotkeys/
http://cintanotes.userecho.com/feedback ... ook-files/
http://cintanotes.userecho.com/feedback/3179-tabs/

3) already on the roadmap:
http://cintanotes.userecho.com/feedback/3225-seach/
Display inline or in tooltip per program option.

4) also already on the roadmap:
http://cintanotes.userecho.com/feedback ... hierarchy/

Thanks for your reply.

It was only after posting this thread that I found the time to go through the entire roadmap and see how many of my suggestions were already on it in some form or another.

Tab-based note categories is what I'm most interested in so I'll weigh in on that thread once I've read through it properly.

Thanks for your time (and the great program)

Brian
