I have downloaded fresh CN 1.4.2 Portable from link http://cintanotes.com/files/CintaNotes_1_4_2.zip
and exe file makes folder in c:\Documents and Settings\****\Application Data\
and cleared all data in my 'portable' folder on pc (XP3SP)
It is not really portable now?
In CintaNotes_1_4_2.zip is not portable exe

Hi janoo,
Is your "portable" folder located inside of the Program Files folder?

Yes Alex, it is,
I like settings stored together with applications, and all applications in one place, to avoid muddle
but earlier versions worked fine even there.
If it is lot of changing in your C.N., don´t fix it, as if it´s only for this reason
it doesn´t matter

The problem is that under Microsoft guidelines, the PF folder is not writable.
So you might reconsider using this folder for your portable applications.
It is better to have a folder outside of PF, like c:\apps

Alex, i will be very grateful if you add in cintanotes settings something like this
"store_settings_in_cintanotes_folder = 1"
"store_settings_in_cintanotes_folder = 1"

hlop4ik,
there's no need to do that.
Just put CN outside of Program Files, and settings will be stored in the same directory where cintanotes.exe is.

OK, it´s working, but isn´t some method how to have C.N. in Program Files?
Like: start C.N. outside P.F. and after 1st run when it makes new files and folders (backup,cintanotes.db,cintanotes.settings) move folder C.N. to P.F. with some handmade settings (maybe in register)..?
It´s just question if it´s possible or not
anyway thank you Alex, your application is veryvery usefull even outside P.M.

Re: In CintaNotes_1_4_2.zip is not portable exe
Thanks for all the kind words!
It is theoretically possible but we should not really do that, because, again, under MS guidelines programs should not write into Program Files directory (with the obvious exception for installers).
So if you continue keeping your portable apps in the Program Files folder, you are going to run into problems with other programs in future anyway.
