[UI] Open note and close search window
Many times i search for one single note. I find and open it. Now it takes three "Esc" to close all cintanotes windows. Over time this is just to many unnecessary klicks. I suggest to introduce "Ctrl+Enter" for opening a note window. The note window should be opened (as with normal Enter) and the search windows should be auto-closed (new functionality). Now it takes one single ESC to close the note-window when finished editing.

Re: Open note and close search window
Thanks for the suggestion.
There already is a somewhat similar suggestion on the roadmap: http://roadmap.cintanotes.com/topic/441 ... -minimize/
However instead of opening the note for editing, it suggests that CN should close itself and all the note editor windows.
Obviously different shortcuts can be used. For example, currenty F2 and Enter do the same. F2 could open the editor while minimizing the main window.
I've added the suggestion to the roadmap: http://roadmap.cintanotes.com/topic/802 ... in-window/

Re: Open note and close search window
Alex, thanx for your comments. To keep it easy i suggest to change the behaviour of the F2-key. Open the note and minimize the search/main-window. It must not close any other opened notes. I know there is already an item on the roadmap. To me, this is a similar strong desire as the Ctrl+S key you have added to 1.5.3. As suggested above the feature should not be to hard to implement.
Changes
Thank you,
Thomas
PS: I like the regular updates you provided with 1.4.1,1.4.2,1.4.3,1.5.1,1.5.2. It is much fun to use a tool that keeps constantly progressing.
Changes
- F2 - inside the notelist, open the note (this is already implemented)
- minimize/close the main window (the new feature to implement)
- Enter - inside the notelist (don't change the behaviour)
Thank you,
Thomas

Re: Open note and close search window
Alex,
i understand there is a public roadmap, that allows all users to vote on items. This allows to list items, which should be implemented next. The public roadmap has a big disadvantage though. It does not distinguish between features that are hard or easy to implement. As such an easy to implement feature like the requested F2-key may take forever to release. We had this problem with the Ctrl+S feature. I was extremely satisfied that you were able to bypass the public voting. Maybe the public roadmap could be splitted. That would allow you to share your time on more requested features. To me, those "little" features summarize up to a huge benefit. And yes, i would really like to see the "F2 open and close" feature to be implemented

Re: Open note and close search window
Hi Thomas,
well I understand the problem you're referring to, and generally I differentiate features by implementation
diffuculty using tags like "complexity:easy" (however usually do it only when features pass the "boundary" score of +10).
With Ctrl+S I've made an exception because lack of this feature implied danger to lose user-entered data,
which is of highest priority. The F2 feature is a convenience matter, so I'll wait till it reaches the +10 score
and then will put it into the pipeline for upcoming releases. So yes, easy to implement features really are treated
a bit differently.
Hope you understand that there are zillion of requests and I can't immediately implement all of them, even
if it is quite easy. Even the easiest feature requires quite a bit of overhead - e.g. changing UI strings & help etc.

Re: Open note and close search window
Hi Alex,
i doubt many users check the roadmap regularly for voting new items. I don't, i'm more active in this forum. I personally thank you for your good support and the detailed statements in this forum In the meantime i'll wait patiently for this feature to become "materialized".

Re: Open note and close search window
Thomas, thanks for understanding! I'll do my best to implement this feature as soon as it has a score of 10+)
