[Ann] CintaNotes 1.8.5 Beta 1,2

Postby CintaNotes Developer » Mon Nov 19, 2012 10:16 am

Nov 19, 2012 - Version 1.8.5 Beta1

Enhancements:
  • Keyboard shortcuts to manipulate current tag selection from the search box
Ctrl+, Shift+, and Alt+Enter now work from the search box to change current tag selection.
Fixes:
  • Regression: accepting tags on spacebar not working anymore.
  • Regression: Single Ctrl+Enter not enough to apply tags on tag sidebar.
  • Don't focus main window when after closing one editor other gets focused.

Re: [Ann] CintaNotes 1.8.5 Beta 1

Postby ChrisCN » Mon Nov 19, 2012 11:18 am

my first reaction:
wow - a long hoped for feature :) THANKS
seems to work perfectly fine so far

One new idea that immediately came to my mind
is that if we hit a button that would 'select' a tag that has already
been selected could deselect this tag.

E.g. hitting ALT+Enter for the tag 'task' could deselect this tag
if it already has been marked with (NOT 'task').

Thanks

Hi Alex,

i've just installed 1.8.5 beta 1 updating from 1.8.2.

  • Ctrl, Alt + Shift in Search Box works fine :)
  • Export Dialog
Selected notes is now the default, when the active note is the only active one :)
  • Trimming after manual save works fine :)
  • Focus Editor Title/Text
I have always had the focus set to Title, but from my mind i had said, that when opening an existing note, the cursor would focus in the notes text at its last position. I retested with 1.8.2, but i get the same result as with 1.8.5. Has there been a change in one of the last versions or am i just wrong?

I confirm the following regressions fixed:
Regression: accepting tags on spacebar not working anymore.
Regression: Single Ctrl+Enter not enough to apply tags on tag sidebar.

Just something I noticed regarding "Ctrl+, Shift+, and Alt+Enter now work from the search box to change current tag selection."
SHIFT+ALT and CTRL+ALT are not included

This is no bug but maybe a little bit inconsistent.
But also note, that I don't need this feature added in real life.
(SHIFT+ALT is useful but I only use it on rare occasions where clicking is sufficient)

Don't know if this should be included in the future :?:

No problem, Chris, was quite some time in the pipeline ;)

Nice idea, will be done!

Yes, I forgot about these.. This won't be in 1.8.5 but if there's any demand we'll add this later.

Hi Thomas,
glad to see you, welcome back! How was Thailand? ;)

No, no such functionality was implemented. But if you have a search active, then indeed regardless of the "initial focus" setting the text will be focused at the place of the highlighted match.

Here's the new update!
Nov 21, 2012 - Version 1.8.5 Beta2

Enhancements:
  • Keyboard shortcuts to manipulate current tag selection from the search box.
Added toggle functionality like Chris suggested.
Fixes:
  • Regression: accepting tags on spacebar not working anymore.
  • Regression: Single Ctrl+Enter not enough to apply tags on tag sidebar.
  • Don't focus main window when after closing one editor other gets focused.
  • "2." not found in note text when note has a title.
  • Tag autocomplete: in the presence of "a/b", "a" is suggested when "a" is entered.
  • Note preview: pressing right arrow not always immediately scrolls note's text.

I think not all combinations are working:

tag was selected with STRG+Enter > now gets selected with SHIFT+Enter -> results in: deselected !!
tag was selected with STRG+Enter > now gets selected with ALT+Enter -> results in: selected with ALT+Enter

tag was selected with SHIFT+Enter > now gets selected with CTRL+Enter -> results in: deselected !!
tag was selected with SHIFT+Enter > now gets selected with ALT+Enter -> results in: selected with ALT+Enter

tag was selected with ALT+Enter > now gets selected with SHIFT+Enter -> results in: selected with SHIFT+Enter
tag was selected with ALT+Enter > now gets selected with CTRL+Enter -> results in: selected with CTRL+Enter

I think the red ones are not correct. They should result in the corresponding selection.

Hi
I discovered a strange behaviour - is this a bug or a feature?
If I type a tag into the searchbox and hit / this tag gets selected just like hitting SHIFT+Enter!?

Chris, do you mean tag autocomplete or something else?

I don't know - this seems very strange to me:

If I have this tag hierarchy for example:
level1/sublev2

and enter in the searchbox lev/
-> the tag level1 gets selected (like SHIFT+Enter)
if I enter level1/
-> the tag sublev2 gets selected (like SHIFT+Enter)
and so on...

It seems to me that hitting the / key causes CN to take the first (selected) entry of the autocomplete box
and uses this tag to make an "or" selection.

Hmm, sorry but can't reproduce this on 1.8.5_Beta2.
When I press '/', the suggestion of parent tag gets accepted (and children are suggested), but no "OR" selection is being made without pressing Shift+Enter.
Please describe in detail how do you achieve this?

exactly like described above ;)

ESC -> no filter applied
lev -> drop down with suggestion appears ("level1","level1/sublev2")
/ -> level1 tag gets the selection; / shows up in the search box

I have attached two screenshots...

I have different behavior on step 3: after pressing "/", the search box contains "level1/" and not just "/".
BTW how do you exactly enter "/" on your keyboard? Shift+something?

I have date tags set up like this

yyyy/mm/w/dd

So today would be 2012/11/4/25.

When I type in the box 2012/, right after the final slash CN jumps to complete 2012/01/. This would only be what I wanted if it was January. Likewise, if I fix the error by backspacing and type 2012/11/ CN autocompletes this as 2012/11/1/ . This would only be true the first week of the month.

The autocomplete seems to be picking the next possible level and completing it that way, even though there are many possible sublevels. To fix this, I have to backspace and restart the tag.

Edit: Additional bug. The <space> key now sets the tag instead of Ctl-space.

Thanks,
Mark

Mark, thanks for the report! Please also check out the Beta3 above. The problem should be fixed there.
About the "<space> key now sets the tag instead of Ctl-space" didn't quite understand how to reproduce this. Does it happen in Beta3? If so, could you please describe in more detail how to reproduce? Thanks a lot!
