help file format

Postby gunars » Wed Dec 04, 2013 11:41 am

When looking at the help file, all is well until you get to the 'Linking Notes' section where line wrapping falls apart. In looking at help.htm on lines 744 and 749, the <em> tag is not properly closed by </em> (the slash is missing). Fixing those two takes care of the problem.

Thanks a lot, gunars! I've fixed it online, and the local file shipped with CN will be fixed in the next update.

Hah, and you thought no one reads the help file to the end :o

Hmm, the Linking Notes section doesn't appear to be in the online cintanotes.com/cintanotes.htm.

I'm glad there are people who read it :) Maybe you have some thoughts on how it could be improved?
I frankly consider the help to be CN's weak point, I'm not a good writer :)

Re cintanotes.com/cintanotes.htm: this is an old URL (did you save it to favorites?)
The correct one is http://cintanotes.com/help.htm
I've adjusted .htaccess to redirect to the correct file. Thanks for catching this!

No, usually I look at the help.htm that comes with CN.

Also, I think your writing is very good, organized and concise. There have been only a few minor places where I've misunderstood something, like with the system-wide keys and default Inbox, that I think could be a little clearer.

Thanks for the kind words :) Now I know that the effort of writing the help wasn't wasted, there are people who actually read it :)
Of course the issue with default inbox wording will be improved. Thank for helping make the terminology clearer!
