I have some linux command line commands saved as notes like this one:
ls -al
But if i type the command in the search bar it doesn't find the note that contain the command. And if i type the command without the dash in front of the parameter it finds the note. Obviously the dash in front is causing this issue but i am not sure why. Is this a bug or using dash in front of word has some other purpose when searching?
Using dash in front of word doesn't find any notes

Re: Using dash in front of word doesn't find any notes
Hi,
yes, the dash in the search box means "exclude notes having this word" (more info here: http://cintanotes.com/help/#finding).
To search for "ls -al" literally, put it into quotes.

Re: Using dash in front of word doesn't find any notes
I think i found a problem with using dash to filter notes that contain specific word. If i start my search with word that has dash in front of it, it doesn't find any notes. Doesn't matter what the word is, as long as it have a dash in front it doesn't show any notes.
Is this a bug?

You did something wrong, working fine for me there ... Check where you did search - only text fields are supported (title/text, any text )

You might be right something isn't working as it should. When I search for an either existing or non-existing word with a dash in front, in a few sections just 1 note shows up, in some other none, in one particular section many more, but the numbers don't add up.
Say, when I have a hundred notes, and search for ThisWord, I have 20 results. So -ThisWord should have 80 results, right? Also a nonexistent dashed word should show all notes, right?
All (faulty?) results did have an attachment, coincidence?
But when searching with the dashed word in the second place (only text field to be sure):
Word1: 2519 results
Word1 Word2: 759 results
Word1 -Word2: 1857 results
This seems to work better Exceeding sum probably because one of the words not in the same field on second (inclusive) search thus transcending the third search because the first word might apply to any field.
So might be a bug if my logical thinking ability isnt declining

Quick addendum: only searching in 'text field' instead of 'everywhere' seems to work fine always, for any of those cases even when starting the first word with a dash

Basically date is right - the combination of Attachments field and negative search doesn't work correctly now.
We'll fix it in the next update.

Oh right but this could be interpreted multiple ways. For example, it only works on title and text, or, it only works when search option for 'title and text' is selected, or just 'it doesn't work on note creation time or tags.'
At least the mystery is solved now!
