I am trying to specify the location of the data files.
I understand I can d othat by editing cintanotes.settings, however I cannot locate cintanotes.settings anywhere.
I have Win7 64 bit

I guess this thread contains the answer: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=564
In short: this is because of virtualization of the Program Files directory Windows 7 does, look in C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\CintaNotes\

thank you for that information.
May I add something to the wish list?
That we can specify where those files are located.
Personally, I would like then in My Documents to better be in synch with my backup system.
But that is just me.

You can specify the location of cintanotes.db via editing the "notebook.file" parameter in cintanotes.settings.
