[Ann] Translating CintaNotes

IMPORTANT: Thanks a lot to all of you who have contributed a translation!

Unfortunately since managing all these language files by hand is getting unwieldy and distracts from
feature development, from April 6th 2011 CintaNotes will be using the online service Transifex
for collaborative translation effort. The already submitted translations are already there. The translator
credits are moved from comments into the "translators=" entry.
I've set up some scripts that would automatically download the translations and include them into
the next CintaNotes release.


So if you'd like to help CintaNotes with updating translations, please register there and enroll
into the translation team for your language. Huge thanks in advance!

Attached italian translation. I would like some testing from other italian users so we can change any mistakes and (politely) discuss if you would like different choices for some key words or phrases. In the translation, clarity and user-friendliness was slightly preferred over fidelity to the original text.

Edit 24/01: added missing menu.options.language entries and another very minor change.

But I have not added the comment line yet.
I added some language menus. (be, zh, it and pl)


By the way, I think "menu.options.language.jp" is incorrect. "menu.options.language.ja" is correct.

The language code is defined by ISO639-1.

I updated the japanese language file. It's put here until being registered in Transifex. (ja_07.zip for 1.4.3)

- line feed code is LF(Packaging ja.lang is CR+LF).

Well, here is some advice:
1) Don't change/remove special markup like '[app.name]', '\s' and '{0}'
2) Add a French entry for each of the submitted languages under menu.options.language.
So you need to add menu.options.language.fr, menu.options.language.be, menu.options.language.it, menu.options.language.pl and menu.options.language.jp
3) You can add comments to the file, just start a line with the "#" symbol, like this:

1.4 doesn't understand such comments, but 1.4.1 will.

Well, here is some advice:

The "&" signs denote which letters will be used as mnemonic shortcuts in menu (they will be underlined, e.g. "&About" will become "About" in menu, and "C&ut" will become "Cut"). You need to make sure that each command is reachable using a unique "mnemonic path", e.g. "Alt+O, E, S" for "Options/Editor/Single Click Links". In other words, no two menu commands can have same mnemonic path.

Thanks again. I knew the ampersands denote shortcuts but it is not easy in French to find the right ones.
I'll have to test the translation first before posting it. It's nearly finished but I don't have much free time at the moment - many projects in the air...

I guess we should keep to the standard, otherwise why even bother inventing standards
Before release I'll fix all the names to match the 2-letter ISO codes.

I am a Chinese:
Actually I didn't see the "News and Releases" on your homepage untill I finished translating.
So I bring my translation for Simplified Chinese which I prefer...
I just downloaded the three different Chinese translations and read them. The MadCN's is more readable, the Foxerr's is more exact, and the zhyu888's is not idiomatic, with some errors.
I think the name should be zh-CN.lang which is widely used. "zh" stands for Chinese. "zh-CN" usually stands for Simplified Chinese used in Mainland China(zh-sg in Singapore). "zh-TW" for Traditional Chinese used in Taiwan, "zh-HK" for Traditoinal Chinese used in Hong Kong.
(add: newer software prefer zh-hans and zh-hant.It is better)
I prefer MadCN's translation and mine.

PS:I think the word "Language" should not be translated,or there will be troubles switching between languages.

Add:
Microsoft says:"zh-Hans" ("s" means Simp.)and"zh-Hant" represent the current standard.

What you quoted is what I thought at first,and then I edited it,adding the right one.

Actually,what I added (also what Microsoft says) is just based on RFC-5646.
In the detail rule of RFC-5646,language tag = language["-" script] ["-" region]("-" variant)("-" extension)["-" privateuse]
Only the primary language subtag is a must.

But Chinese is so special that Simplified and Traditional Chinese have different characters,so you must add the script subtag(hans/hant for Chinese as standard defined by RFC-5646)of extended language subtags.
"JP" is also the region subtag~

To conclude:
"zh-Hans"/"zh-Hant" is the standard for Simplified/Tradtional Chinese.
